StudentSide is an edtech company working on an end-to-end platform to help high schoolers learn about their dream schools firsthand from college students who attend those schools. Our mission is to destress and demystify the college process so high schoolers can make the best quality college decision. Given how large of an investment a college degree is monetarily and in terms of one’s time, it is worth conducting the proper due diligence to ensure a school is the right fit.

Job Description

We’re looking for a marketing intern to help us execute our marketing strategy. Given it is unpaid, we want to help design projects that you’d enjoy and benefit from to gain the skills you want.

Job Responsibilities

  • Multiple Instagram posts each week under various formats, including:
    • Mentor Spotlights (1/week)
    • College Spotlights (2/week)
    • College Fun Facts (3/week)
  • Multiple Facebook posts per week
  • Linkedin updates
  • Keeping up with mentor database
    • Send out weekly email updates
    • Design graphics for these updates
  • Design quick videos spotlighting multiple mentors at the same school (interview panel)
  • Get creative!
    • Think of new ways to market to high school students and families
    • Design fun, interactive games, etc. for our mentor database
    • Design fun, interactive games for high school students to keep involved

Job Requirements

  • Be able to devote at least 10-12 hours per week on this role
  • Be able to think strategically, analytically, and creatively
  • Be a fervent learner; we do not expect you to know everything for this role, but we expect your to know what to do when you do not know something
  • Adept at using Instagram, Facebook, Linkedin, and other social media
  • iMovie or other video production software skills
  • Skilled in canva and/or other marketing software

Durham, NC – Venga – Design & Marketing Internship

Intro to Venga

Venga (vengaclimb.com) is an early-stage software startup right here in Durham – we help climbing gyms grow. We solve climbing gyms’ membership and retention problems by providing novel technological solutions to increase engagement and build community within these gyms. Our B2B SAAS platform allows gyms to run ongoing adult leagues with minimal time and effort.

Design & Marketing Internship

Join Venga this summer to get your feet wet designing for a tech startup. For this internship you’ll be learning the ins and outs of designing in a fast paced environment, how to make lean decisions based on research and feedback, and some tools for what it takes to be an entrepreneur. You’ll be mentored closely by our COO Court Skabelund, who has a masters in design from RISD and experience in UX at fitness tech startups. Our team normally works out of American Underground in downtown, but we are able to support working remotely if necessary at that time! Work schedule is flexible.

Role & Responsibilities

The tentative goal of the internship will be to launch and manage a marketing campaign. This will include assets for social media, email, and web as well as delivering reports based on engagement. An ideal candidate will take ownership of this project and create engaging content to help promote the Venga brand, and can have a big impact on our operations this summer.

We are looking for an enthusiastic intern to join our sports marketing agency and provide creative assistance with marketing and content creation projects, both for us and our clients. Helium Agency is based in Durham, N.C., and works with media outlets including Prep Baseball Report and D1 Baseball, as well as brands like Dick’s Sporting Goods, Mizuno and Wilson.

You will work with our Director of Digital Operations and the rest of our team in preparing and curating digital marketing content for our clients. Your contribution will help develop, expand and maintain email and social media channels for us and our partners. You will gain skills and experience in digital marketing and content creation, and learn about digital media, sales and marketing strategies. You’ll get experience in writing and editing, creating effective social media and web content, and optimizing and organizing it.

The position is available immediately, and runs through the end of the year. In a perfect world the person in this position would work in our Durham, N.C., office, but we will also consider candidates who would work remotely.

Responsibilities (These touch on some of the key needs but should not be considered all-encompassing)
● Create social media and website graphics

Skagway, Alaska – Voyij – Marketing Manager and Event Coordinator Internship

Marketing Manager & Event Coordinator

Voyij is hiring a Marketing Manager & Event Coordinator in a seasonal cruise town in SE Alaska to oversee and manage daily logistics of a live promotion event with a well-known international jewelry brand and The Iditarod Trail Committee.

Our Marketing Manager & Event Coordinator will be the primary contact and onsite host for a 16-week fully marketed in-store experience featuring Iditarod puppies and a photo booth area in a high-trafficked retail location, with the primary responsibilities of overseeing the entire marketing and execution of the event, per the event schedule, and liaising as an official representative of Voyij with the Iditarod, local mushers and puppies, the retail community, and cruise guests.

The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and enthusiastic, and possesses excellent communication skills and multitasking abilities, and loves talking with new people in a retail sales environment.

Responsibilities:
• Operate an organized and fast-paced live promotion event several days per week with Iditarod puppies and a well-known retail brand inside retail brand’s Skagway, Alaska store
• Coordinate with local musher and puppies the event schedule for the week
• Provide daily event setup and breakdown
• Serve as a photographer and event professional during the event, including answering all guest questions to a high professional standard
• Perform additional event marketing duties, including local PR and distribution services
• Be a well-informed rep for Voyij’s product offerings and services and perform other Voyij responsibilities with self-initiative as required
