Audible Ancestry seeks a Social Media and Marketing Intern to develop and implement content-based marketing plans for use in social media, website, newsletter campaigns. The Social Media and Marketing Intern is responsible for developing and sustaining Audible Ancestry brand awareness by creating entertaining and informative content for our customers. Content may include, but is not limited to: audio clips, video clips, photographs, artworks, editorial content, content links, articles, updates, news, surveys and historical documentation. The content will increase Audible Ancestry brand awareness, and to promote the importance of oral history and documentary work as a discipline. Social Media and Marketing Intern will develop 12 months of cross-platform content based on weekly posts of 3-5 posts per week.

 

This is unique opportunity to build a lively, innovative and interactive social media and marketing presence from the ground up. Successful interns will have the chance to create unique content and develop signature programming for future positions. This is a chance to make your personal mark for a new company and to kick start your marketing portfolio.

 

Internship position can be undertaken remotely. 10 hours per week. 13 weeks for Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters. Occasional in-person, socially-distanced meetings are possible.

 

Core Responsibilities

 

Grow Audible Ancestry’s following on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

Investigate need for presence on other platforms.

Increase our email list by 300 email addresses.

Develop and implement 12-month, cross-platform marketing plan.

Design and implement a newsletter template.

Work directly with Audible Ancestry founder to discuss and implement social media strategy.

Train co-founder in the implementation of social media strategy.

Brainstorm and develop innovative, interactive content.

Stay current on newest trends for viral marketing campaigns.

 

Day to Day Activities

 

Average 2 hours/day (10 hours/week). Schedule TBD by intern and Audible Ancestry founder.

Research competitors, successful social media campaigns, template design, online content.

Developing mailing lists are expected.

Weekly check-ins and updates with the founder will be scheduled.

Weekly accounting for hours worked is expected.

Maintaining and developing social media, website presence.

Working with editing interns, co-founders.

Other related activities as needed.

Audible Ancestry seeks a Recorded Sound, Content, and Editing Intern to develop and create content for the business. Audible Ancestry records individuals’ life stories, and the job of the intern is to edit these stories – removing empty space, pauses, false starts, repetition, pops and cracks – and ensuring narrative flow. The intern is also responsible for creating meaningful content for use in promotional materials using existing clips, music samples, and public domain audio. The intern will also investigate creating a “loop” of unobtrusive ambient sound, to provide a framework for existing recordings. In addition, interns will be responsible for cutting content deemed sensitive in interview contracts. Finally, familiarity with our equipment and Garage Band is essential, to ensure optimal sound quality.

Editing 2-hour recorded interviews for length, clarity, coherence, and quality of recordings.

Create shorter, self-contained clips for use in promotion and on social media and websites.

Create a “greatest-hits” collection for Audible Ancestry.

Create a replicable, workflow template for best practices in editing.

Familiarizing yourself with our equipment and its correct usage.

Work directly with founder to discuss and implement digital storytelling strategy.

Train co-founder and founder in the use of equipment.

Brainstorm and develop innovative, interactive content for social media and promotions.

Stay current on newest trends for digital storytelling.
