Bridging Health Equity Gap in COVID vaccine distribution

Description and GC Focus Connection:
This project is part of Bass Connections at Duke University, aiming to bring equitable vaccine distribution to the Durham community and beyond. The roles of this project include community outreach, community engagement, and policy research. As part of our effort to increase vaccine distribution, I have also volunteered at pop-up vaccine clinics to help bridge the gap in vaccine distribution.

UNC Ambulatory Care Center Physical Therapy Clinic

Description and GC Focus Connection:
Volunteering at a PT clinic allows me to interact with patients directly. Through active listening and conversations, I can connect with patients and understand their needs. I am also able to learn about the holistic process of recovering from trauma and chronic pain.

Root Cause Fresh Produce Program

Description and GC Focus Connection:
The fresh produce program at root cause helps battle food insecurity among patients. As a volunteer, I deliver fresh produce to patients in need every Saturday. This is a great way for me to engage and give back to the community.

Taiwan Root Medical Peace Corps

Description and GC Focus Connection:
Taiwan Root Medical Peace Corps is an organization that aims to provide free health to people in rural Taiwan where healthcare might not be as accessible. We go on two, three-day trips to rural counties and provide check-up and medical health.
