Health Policy 395: Wearables Data for COVID-19
Status: Completed
Start and End Date: (Fall 2020 – Spring 2021)
Description and GC Focus Connection:
As part of the Covidentity Project, our team sought to use wearable technology to detect early symptoms of COVID-19. In our initial data analysis, we identified a demographic imbalance in the study participants. We had a significantly lower African American and Hispanic Latino population in our study. In an effort to bridge health equity and create technology that is fit for all, my goal was to identify barriers for minority groups to participate in the study and address these issues. In addition, to address concerns about the study, I also partook in community events such as Black-19 and Latin-19 to engage our community partners. This course introduced me to health policy and health equity. https://covidentify.covid19.duke.edu/
