Global Forum on Climate & Environmental Futures
Our planet is confronted by urgent challenges such as global warming, resource depletion, heritage loss, environmental pollution, biodiversity loss, and compounded disasters. The Global Forum on Climate & Environmental Futures aims to address these planetary complexities by fostering dialogue among academic researchers, environmental policymakers, and grassroots communities.
By developing a holistic understanding of the complex dynamics surrounding environmental questions, each successive forum contributes to growing a network dedicated to critical research and practice in and beyond Asia.
The Global Forum on Climate & Environmental Futures distinguishes itself by bringing together a range of voices, knowledge, and worldviews, with a particular emphasis on perspectives from Asia and other regions that are often underrepresented in global environmental discussions. We recognize that addressing the global environmental challenges requires not only technical solutions but also a fundamental shift in how we understand and relate to the commons as a node for responsible collective action.
Through sustained efforts, we attempt to generate actionable insights, identify key leverage points for intervention, and foster transformative practices, toward a more resilient, equitable, and sustainable future. Following the inaugural meeting in Jeju, South Korea, in 2024, future initiatives will focus on such themes as heritage conservation, biodiversity promotion, and community engagement.
