The Nicholas School of the Environment invites all of Duke to come celebrate Earth Day in the Levine Science Research Center (LSRC) courtyard! There will be live music, free food, tables, and tons of earthy festivities for all to enjoy.
Local Businesses and Student Groups
Student groups will also be hosting activities and information at tables surrounding the courtyard of the LSRC, so educate yourself on the programs going on right here at the Nicholas School and greater Duke! Local farms and businesses will be contributing to Earth Day with donations to the raffle or tables carrying their wares so be sure to check them out too!
Entertainment and Activities
Activities include a dunk tank, face painting, yoga sessions, puppy adoption, a bike blender station, tug of war, and fat suit wrestling. All proceeds from dunking professors and faculty members will go towards the Nicholas School Environmental Internship Fund. Additionally, there will be a raffle with prizes that include bike gear, gift cards to Durham restaurants, tents, and more–all to the sweet sounds of live, local music with a regional flair. Bring your ID’s if you wish to partake in any adult beverages.
Environmental Education and E-Recycling
We will be holding an education scavenger hunt around the festivities and a Life Cycle Assessment Quiz show. Completing these activities will earn you a free raffle ticket which will increase your chances of winning one of many awesome raffle prizes. Additionally, we will be having an E-Waste (electronic waste) collecting and education station that will explain to you how to curb your E-waste production and how to recycle all that you have already accumulated! Bring your old cellphones!
