My computer once beat me at chess, but at kick-boxing?  It wasn’t even close.

Graduating this semester? Congratulations!  You are completing your degree from one of the top nursing programs in the country. Below are common questions we hear from graduating students and steps we recommend that you take now so that you are prepared for post-graduation.

Here’s what you need to know …

But first, here’s our Tech Tip of the Week

Use Facebook?  Chances are, your data is compromised …

In January, personal data for 533 million Facebook users was stolen.  The hackers sold the data, but recently, all of this data has been leaked and available freely on the web.  Were you one of the Facebook users whose personal data was taken?

You can find out by clicking here.  Search on your phone number and email address.  It’s an easy way to see if your data has been compromised in this or any other data breach.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long will I have access to Duke Email?

Duke graduates can use their NetIDs for one year after graduation. After that year, the account will expire and all associated accounts, including e-mail addresses, mailboxes, e-mail forwarding and personal file storage space will be deleted.  If you are a former Duke Health employee, your DHE/NETID account will expire after graduation (see below).

  • Will I still be able to access DUSON share drive and clubs wireless after graduation?

No.  Your DHE account, used for DUSON share drive access and clubs wireless, will be inaccessible after graduation.

  • How long can I access my Sakai courses?

You will have access to all Sakai courses to which you were registered as long as the course is active (as determined by your instructor) and as long as you have a NetID.

  • Can I still access the data stored in PACE or S:/SED folders to which I have access?

If you require access to data in PACE or in a research folder, you will need to obtain sponsorship for an extension following graduation.  Any faculty mentor or other Duke colleague can sponsor your access request.  Please see SON-IT for more information on what is needed.
