Welcome to new faculty member Nick Heaton

We are delighted to announce that we will very soon, on August 1st 2015, be welcoming a new faculty member into the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology and into the Duke Center for Virology. Dr Nicholas S. Heaton is an expert on RNA virus biology in general and influenza A virus molecular biology in particular who trained as a post-doc in Peter Palese’s laboratory in the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. Nick is a highly productive scientist (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/?term=heaton+ns) who has made key contributions to the understanding of influenza pathogenesis that he intends to further develop once he gets his laboratory started at Duke. Nick, who is anxious to welcome new graduate students into his lab, significantly extends the training and research opportunities at Duke and expects to be a highly active member of the virology center.
