  • Keren is a double major in Neuroscience and English and has a deep love for reading, writing, and learning. Keren works in the Filiano lab studying the impact of immune cell malfunction on neuronal maturity. On campus Keren spends most of her time heading Israel policy groups, volunteering in local middle schools, coordinating her sorority’s philanthropy, and running programming with Duke Jewish life.

  • Yasser is very interested in the intersections of healthcare and computer science and hopes to pursue a career that aligns with this passion. On campus, Yasser is involved with DAML (the Duke Applied Machine Learning Group) where he works with clients to develop end-to-end machine learning models, as well as the MSA (Muslim Student Association) where he has previously served on the Exec board.

  • Annie Lee is interested in studying how people’s histories and cultures influence the ways in which humans understand their relationship with nature. At Duke, Annie has been involved in ASA (Asian Students Association), Duke PAWS, duARTs, and was a part of a Bass Connections team that researched the relationship between gold mining and environmental/human health. She is also a work study student at a non-profit organization, Friends of Bonobos.

  • Tauseef is studying neuropharmacological mechanisms and psychosocial disparities that underlie substance use while also exploring narratives of disease and stigma. He does neuroimaging research in the Meade Lab and animal model research in the Kuhn Lab studying how cocaine affects brain structure and function. He is also working on a project investigating the literary representations of heroin, speed, and acid in postmodern fiction and rock music in the American 60s.

  • Minor: Linguistics
  • Natalie Rincon is drawn to exploring health humanities, social neuroscience, and storytelling. She is interested in working towards health equity, particularly for Latinx communities, and ultimately hopes to work as a provider at a community health center. Her involvements include addressing patients’ social needs at Lincoln Community Health Center, participating on a Bass Connections team for cervical cancer prevention in Peru, mentoring students at Neal Middle School through Bull City Scholars, and singing with the Duke Chorale.
