To all engineering freshmen: Don’t forget about our awesome opportunity for you to get involved in a club at an executive level!
Each year, SWE has 2-3 freshmen delegates who act as a liaison between SWE Exec and the freshmen class. In doing so, they gain the valuable experience of serving as a part of SWE Exec board. Serving as a freshman delegate is a great way to get involved in SWE at a high level and isn’t a huge, time-consuming commitment. The application will be sent out to the freshmen, and will be made available online in the coming days.
This weekend is Homecoming! As such, SWE is having an informal breakfast with alumni on Saturday, 9/24 beginning at 10:30a at Alpine Bagels. Be sure to stop by and say hi!
We have a few service- and community-related coming up soon. Sign-ups for each will be emailed to the SWE general body, or you can email Jennifer Wang directly. Hope to see you out and about!
Saturday, October 1: SWE Habitat Build (8a-12p) + Pratt Open House (1:15p)
Wednesday, October 19: Duke Science Under the Stars (6-8p)
Come join us at Mez restaurant this Thursday (9/15) at 6:30p. Email Rachel if you would like to go so she can get a headcount. Transportation can be arranged, if necessary–just let us know.
Check out our calendar for a complete schedule of career-related events this week. Highlights include several opportunities with Catalent (pharmaceuticals), meetings with Microsoft and Deloitte (consulting), TechConnect, and Duke’s Career Fair. Please note that Catalent and Deloitte specifically requested to meet with SWE members–equals great opportunity for any ages to begin networking.
If you’d like your resume to be included in the handout to companies at TechConnect and the Career Fair, please email a copy of it to Erinn by the night of September 11. This is a great opportunity to get your name out to companies so they will recognize it when you apply for an internship or job.
