Come on out to Reynolds Theater at 6:30 this Friday for some outstanding performances by Speak and other Duke performing arts groups! We’re excited to premiere some brand new material for you.
Admission is free for Duke students, but you need to get tickets beforehand – stop by the WISER table on the plaza starting today.
All money raised will benefit the WISER NGO, which was co-founded by Duke professor Dr. Sherryl Broverman. The organization runs a high school for girls in Muhuru Bay, representing the first opportunity for most girls in the community to pursue education after primary school. The NGO is also involved in other education and public health initiatives in the Muhuru Bay community.
We’re incredibly excited to present the Speak class of 2016! We’ll be joined this year by the incomparable Rob Smith, Justin Park, and John Barker.

Class of 2016 – we’re so excited to hear you sing! Speak is a brotherhood, and we’re confident there’s a place for you.
Make sure to come out to Page Auditorium (just to the right of the Chapel) at 7 pm on Sunday, August 26, for Duke’s annual a cappella showcase! It’s sure to be an outstanding show. Make sure to get there early – it’s always a full house!
You can sign up for an audition timeslot right after the show out on the quad. We’ll also be running signups on Monday and Tuesday at the BC plaza and the Marketplace – just look for our table. Anyone is welcome to try out, regardless of vocal experience.
For your audition, we’ll ask you to run through some brief warm-up exercises, then perform a brief, prepared, unaccompanied solo that showcases your voice. A couple more rounds of eliminations will follow – we’ll give you information for those as we go along.
Auditions are low-key – make sure you’re prepared, but don’t get too stressed about it. We just want to get to know you! If you have any questions at all about the musical expectations or the process as a whole, please don’t hesitate to contact email@example.com.
