As part of understanding the biomedical engineering world in Uganda, Duke students had the opportunity to tour the Uganda Industrial Research Institute (UIRI) in Kampala. UIRI is an incubator hub that helps individuals from across Uganda develop their research ideas into small companies. As an agriculturally rich nation, many of the small company ideas being developed revolve around optimizing the agriculture industry and improving lives of farmers in the rural parts of the country.
