As the last days of 2018 dwindle away, now comes the time to reflect on this past year in cinema, and what a year it has been. From revolutionary horror films to career-culminating swan songs, the long-awaited return of some of the world’s best directors, and everything in between, 2018 had us on the edge of our seats for whatever highly anticipated release was hitting theaters almost every weekend. Two years from now, when the “Best Films of the Decade” lists are assembled by critics and fans everywhere, there will surely be some familiar faces from the past 365 days. So, without further ado, here are DIFF’s picks for the top 10 films of 2018, along with a few notables that couldn’t quite make the cut.
