Indian politics and the caste system have been intertwined for the last century. The relationship between these two entities has taken a turn in the last couple of years with Indian politics fighting for the rights of lower caste individuals. This can primarily be seen by the rise to power of Narendra Modi, the current Indian PM who is originally from a lower caste. In this podcast, I discuss the entanglement of these two important phenomenon and how they have shaped each other during Indian history.

जाति व्यवस्था क्या है? जाति व्यवस्था एक ऐसी प्रथा है जहाँ हिंदू समूहों में विभाजित होते हैं। जाति व्यवस्था बहुत पुरानी है।भारत के कुछ हिस्सों में आज भी जाति व्यवस्था प्रचलित है।जाति व्यवस्था भारतीय राजनीति को भी प्रभावित करती है । यहाँ भारतीय राजनीति की कुछ पृष्ठभूमि है।भारत की राजनीतिक व्यवस्था एक लोकतांत्रिक गणराज्य है। इसकी सरकार की तीन शाखाएँ हैं: कार्यकारी, विधायी और न्यायिक।सरकार की वर्तमान पार्टी प्रभारी BJP  है।

BJP 2009 में चुनाव हार गई क्योंकि उन्होंने केवल उच्चा जातियों का समर्थन किया था।इसलिए, BJP ने निचली जातियों का समर्थन करना शुरू कर दिया।भारत का वर्तमान प्रधान मंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी, निचली जाति से हैं।BJP अब सभी सरकारी नौकरियों का 27% निचली जाति के लोगों को आवंटित करती है।भविष्य में भारतीय राजनीति नीचे जाति के लोगों अधिक समर्थन करेगी।
