Patients under age 45 with thyroid cancer that has spread to lymph nodes in the neck are at a greater risk of dying, according to new research by a team including Shelby Reed, PhD, as well as other faculty at the Duke Cancer Institute and Duke Clinical Research Institute. The study, “Presence and Number of Lymph Node Metastases Are Associated With Compromised Survival for Patients Younger Than Age 45 Years With Papillary Thyroid Cancer,” was published in the latest issue of the Journal of Clinical Oncology.
