Our Chapter

Be a leader, be a friend, be of service.

We are the Lambda Nu Chapter of Alpha Phi Omega, the only co-ed community service fraternity at Duke University. Founded in 1955, our chapter takes pride in its service to humanity, as well as the bonds within its diverse membership. We are engineers, pre-meds, humanities majors, athletes, artists, dancers, environmentalists, and activists. Our members are involved in organizations all over campus, from student government to Quidditch to even other Greek organizations. In spite of our differences, we are a family that serves together. See Our Traditions to learn more about our fraternity's traditions.

  • We offer opportunities for members to strengthen their leadership skills through semester-long officer positions. Elections are held each semester, and these provide chances to learn and grow as leaders in the community.

  • Besides serving together, we also have fun together! We have weekly socials and dinners in which brothers and pledges can bond. There’s also semi-formals, sectional and regional conferences, and retreats where the APO family comes together. We also celebrate our friendship during Brotherhood Week every semester!

  • Service is what APO is all about! We do everything from tutoring Durham high school students to tending crops at the Duke Campus Farm to taking care of tigers at Carolina Tiger Rescue! Learn more about our service partnerships on our partnership page!
