Get to Know Tina Winston! [June 2025]

Title: Monograph Receipts Processing Assistant

Library/Department: Collections Services, Monograph Acquisitions

Location: Smith Warehouse, Bay 10

Years at Duke: about 4 months

In a nutshell, what do you do at Duke University Libraries?

I receive, copy catalog, and shelf prep physical materials for the Western Languages team.

If you had to pick one thing, what’s the best part of your job so far?

I love the variety of materials I get to work with. It is so interesting to see books from around the world.

What is the best thing you’ve read/watched/listened to recently?

I listen to audiobooks a lot and a great one that I listed to recently was Someone Else’s Shoes by Jojo Moyes. It was narrated by Daisy Ridley (of Star Wars fame). I have also been enjoying listening to the Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells, which is now a series on Apple TV, I think. I don’t get to watch a lot of TV, but when I do I enjoy nature documentaries and period dramas.

What do you like most about living in The Triangle?

I love that where we live is quiet and somewhat rural, but we can travel a short distance to do so many fun things.

What do you like to do outside of work?

On a typical weekend, I love doing pizza and movie night with my family (husband and three kids ages 14, 10, and 6, and one doggo), or catching up on reading. I haven’t been in a while, but I like to go hiking. If we have time to travel, we love going to the beach and the mountains.
