Bio: Matthew McKnight is a 2L from Charlotte, North Carolina. Before law school, he worked as a special assistant in the United States Senate and earned a graduate degree in theology from the University of Oxford. Matthew graduated from the University of North Carolina in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Public Policy. At Duke, Matthew is a Student Editor for the Bolch Judicial Institute, a member of the Mock Trial Board, the Business Law Society, and the Christian Legal Society.Matthew enjoys running, reading, listening to podcasts, and playing spikeball with friends.

Bio: Tom Fogarty is a 2L from Cleveland, Ohio. He attended The Ohio State University for undergraduate, where he obtained a B.A. in History with a minor in Business. At Duke, Tom is a Staff Editor at Duke Law Journal, Treasurer of Duke Law Mock Trial, member of the Moot Court Board, and a member of the Christian Legal Society. When he is not buried in readings, Tom enjoys exercising, studying religion, and studying history.
Last summer, Tom was a summer associate at Squire, Patton, Boggs in their Cleveland office, where he worked in litigation and labor and employment. After 2L, Tom will be returning to Cleveland as a summer associate at Jones Day.

Bio: Madeline Sparks is a 2L from Branson, Missouri. Madeline attended Samford University where she studied public administration and minored in history. At Duke Madeline serves as the Professional Development chair for the Texas club, Secretary of the Duke Law Music Association, a staff editor for the Duke Law Journal, and the Alumni and Development 2L rep for DBA. She also volunteers with the Health Care Planning Project at Duke. Madeline’s favorite non-law school hobby is playing oboe.
Last summer, Madeline was a summer associate with Baker Botts in Dallas, TX where she will return next summer.

Bio: Matt Queen is a 2L from Asheboro, North Carolina. Before law school, Matt attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he studied Economics and Political Science as a Morehead-Cain Scholar. At Duke, Matt is a staff editor on the Duke Law Journal, a research assistant for Prof. Ernest Young, Executive Vice President of the Christian Legal Society, and a member of the Mock Trial board. In his free time, Matt enjoys exercising and watching college basketball.
Last summer, Matt was a 1L Summer Associate at Consovoy McCarthy PLLC, a boutique litigation firm in Arlington, Virginia.

Bio: Paige Brasington is a 2L from The Woodlands, Texas. Paige attended the University of Georgia where she majored in International Affairs and minored in History. She is very passionate about Georgia Football. At Duke Paige is a member of the Transactional Law Society Board, a member of the Mock Trial Board, and a research assistant for Senior Lecturing Fellow Dan Bowling. In her free time Paige enjoys traveling, adventures, and spending time with her mini goldendoodle, Wellie.
Last Summer, Paige worked for the non-profit, Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation, in Washington, D.C. After 2L Paige will be a Summer Associate with Baker Botts in Houston, Texas.
CASEY WITTE

Bio: Casey Witte is a 2L from Palm City, Florida. Before law school, Casey worked at the R Street Institute, a think tank in Washington, D.C. where he focused on criminal justice policy. Before heading to D.C., Casey attended the University of Florida and graduated with degrees in Business, Political Science, and Public Affairs. At Duke, Casey is a staff editor for the Journal of Law & Contemporary Problems, a tournament coordinator on the Mock Trial Board, 2L representative on the Lateral Faculty Appointments Committee, and member of the Moot Court Board. When he’s not buried in books, Casey enjoys watching classic movies, hiking, and creating digital art.
Last summer, Casey served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Robin L. Rosenberg 89′ in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. After 2L, Casey will return to Washington, D.C. as a summer associate at Fried Frank.

Bio: At Duke Law, Mark is the Notes Editor for the Law & Contemporary Problems journal and the Special Projects Editor for the Duke Law & Technology Review. He is also a member of the Health Law Society, Christian Legal Society, Duke Law & Technology Society, and First Generation Professionals. Mark enjoys playing volleyball, watching sports (big Yankees fan), listening to podcasts, and working out in his free time.
Two summers ago, he worked at the Pacific Legal Foundation and assisted Prof. David Hoffman with research on federal data privacy legislation. Last summer, he worked at Jones Day in Washington, D.C. After law school, Mark will clerk for Judge Tjoflat on the Eleventh Circuit in Jacksonville, FL.

Bio: Mikaela Schulz is a 3L from Buffalo, New York. She graduated summa cum laude from SUNY Buffalo in 2020, where she studied English. Before law school, she managed a restaurant, assisted with campaigns, and held a variety of service-industry jobs. At Duke, Mikaela has been involved with the Government and Public Service Society, Texas Law Club, and First Generation Professionals. She is currently a teaching assistant for Professor Thomas Metzloff and Lead Articles Editor for Law and Contemporary Problems. In her spare time, Mikaela enjoys traveling, photography, and reading.
She spent her 1L summer as a Ronald Reagan Fellow at the Goldwater Institute and her 2L summer at Baker Botts. After graduation, Mikaela will clerk for Justice Evan A. Young on the Supreme Court of Texas and Judge Don R. Willett on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Bio: Mary Beth is a 3L from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She majored in Political Philosophy, Policy, & Law and History at the University of Virginia (go hoos). At Duke Law, she serves as the Managing Editor of the Alaska Law Review, is on the Moot Court Board, is a member of the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Committee, is a member of the Environmental Law & Policy Clinic, and participates in the University Scholars Program. Outside of law school, Mary Beth enjoys exploring Durham with her dog, Toby, and working with her hometown Mardi Gras Krewe.
Last summer, she worked as a Summer Associate at Gibson Dunn’s DC office. After graduation, she will serve as a law clerk to Judge Andy Oldham on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit and as a law clerk to Chief Judge Bill Pryor on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit.

Bio: Cameron Ervin is a 3L from Fresno, California. He studied Philosophy and Political Science at Fresno State. At Duke, Cameron is a proud member of the Texas Club and the Federalist Society. In his free time, Cameron enjoys golfing and playing in the Duke Law Softball League. Last summer, Cameron was a 2L Summer Associate at Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld LLP where he focused on investment management. Cameron will be joining Akin Gump upon graduation.
