The purpose of the Duke DPT Advocacy Special Interest Group (SIG) is to explore learning opportunities to effectively advocate for students, clinicians, the profession as a whole, as well as our patients and communities.
SIG will offer a weekly blog in order to provide avenues for service, action and further exploration of the profession. In addition, SIG will schedule one panel of 3-5 student advocacy experiences (from across all Duke DPT SIGs or outside students/clinicians) each session to help students understand what advocacy means. Other experiences may include informal lunches with APTA leadership and faculty, dinners with other DPT programs, and anything students deem valuable in expanding their professional identity.
