An interesting read about the Yale School of Medicine’s Sterling Hall which has historically been lined with large oil paintings of mostly white men. This space has been experienced as exclusionary to some students underrepresented in medicine. Over time, additional images of women faculty, and artwork by students, faculty, and staff were added. Qualitative interviews of some medical students found the students recognized and appreciated the changes to the portraiture, especially with increase in diverse representation. This was noted in stark comparison to the prior space.
