Though ACMGE requires general pediatricians to learn 13 procedures during training, it turns out many of these providers do not normally perform these procedures in practice. Most learned in a “See one, Do one” model instead of a more effective mastery framework involving “Learn, See, Practice, Prove, Do, Maintain.” Also, many pediatricians reported never being formally assessed on procedural competency during residency.
