The DKU Humanities Research Center (HRC) is thrilled to announce its annual Spring Conference 2026, taking place at Duke Kunshan University on April 3, 2026! This year’s theme, “Nature and Society,” explores the dynamic interactions between human societies and the natural world across cultures, time periods, and disciplines.
We are excited to welcome our keynote speakers: Ásta, Professor of Philosophy at Duke University, presenting “Social Construction”, and Liang Liang Zhang, Assistant Professor of Global China Studies at NYU Shanghai, presenting “Re-Storying Ecology”. They will share fresh insights from their fields and spark engaging, thought-provoking conversations with participants.
In addition to the keynotes, the conference will feature DKU undergraduate student presentations, showcasing original research in the humanities and interpretive social sciences. Students will present their work, engage with peers and faculty, and participate in lively discussions on topics central to the Nature and Society theme.
A special highlight: we will be hosting a workshop with Professor Ásta for students and faculty to discuss her recent publication, “Sex and Gender”. The event will feature student discussants and an engaging session in the week leading up to the conference. Details will be announced soon – stay tuned!
