Speaker:Taku Kurashige
He is Associate Professor at Tsinghua University’s Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures (he also holds a PhD from Tsinghua). His research dives into modern Chinese/Japanese literatures, Sino-Japanese-American relations, and intellectual history.
In this session, Prof. Kurashige will dissect “I Want to Deceive People” by analyzing interpretations from two towering figures in Japanese Lu Xun studies: Takeuchi Yoshimi and Kaji Wataru. We’ll explore how this text reflects historical contexts of the 1930s and what lessons it holds for us today.
