Future of the Humanities: The Gender/Sex Turn

Duke Kunshan University Humanities Research Center is pleased to announce its fall conference Future of the Humanities: The Gender/Sex Turn 人文学的未来:性/别转向 on September 20-21, 2019.

The conference features four outstanding keynote speakers.

  • Josephine HO 何春蕤, scholar-activist in gender/sexuality studies
  • Yingying HUANG 黄盈盈, China’s leading sociologist of sex work and HIV/AIDS
  • Yin-bin NING 甯应斌, Taiwan’s leading philosopher and theorist of modernity
  • Yueyue WENREN 闻人悦阅, award-winning author of Amber, a top-ten Chinese novel of 2018

The keynote speakers will offer seminars for selected DKU students on Saturday, 21 September at 9am. Students will have the opportunity to meet the keynote speakers, receive a copy of their books, engage in a small seminar, and participate in the banquet dinner with the speakers. In addition, six parallel sessions will feature the work of humanities and social science professors from Duke Kunshan University, New York University-Shanghai, and Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University.
