This week, co-hosted by Prof. Jesse Olsavsky and Prof. Nellie Chu, DKU Film Society will screen Nomadland, directed by Chloé Zhao. Following the 2008 recession, the film follows Fern as she travels across the American West, living and working among a community of modern nomads after the closure of her hometown. Blending scripted scenes with nonprofessional actors, Nomadland examines work, mobility, and community in contemporary America. Nomadland received widespread acclaim, winning three Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actress.
