Autumn Tranquility: An Experience of Japanese Tea Ceremony

Time: Nov.21, 1-2pm
Place: Library 3F Teahouse
Description: The Japanese tea ceremony has its roots in Chinese tea culture, which was introduced to Japan during the Tang and Song dynasties through Buddhist monks. Early Japanese tea practices were heavily influenced by Chinese methods of preparing powdered tea (matcha) and by the Zen Buddhist emphasis on mindfulness and simplicity. Over time, Japan developed its own distinctive aesthetic and transformed Chinese tea traditions into a uniquely Japanese cultural and spiritual practice. In this workshop, you can have an opportunity to experience the Japanese tea ceremony under the guidance of a specialist. Please RSVP to reserve a seat.
* The main language will be Chinese, with moderate translation to English.
