At DISS2024 you will want to attend both of our fabulous keynote speakers, featuring the work of Dr. Peter Stein, the Director of FDA CDER’s Office of New Drugs, on “Changes in the Drug Development and Regulatory Landscape: Evolutions and Revolutions” on April 4 and Dr. Venkat Sethuraman, the Sr Vice President of Global Biometrics and Data Sciences of Bristol Myers Squibb, on “The Power of AI, Data Sciences,andTechnology in Drug Development” on April 5.

Be sure to join us for Opening Remarks by Dean Mary E. Klotman, MD on Thursday, April 4th, 2024 at 8:30am!  

Mary E. Klotman, MD is a nationally recognized leader in academic medicine. She was appointed as Duke’s first executive vice president for health affairs and assumed her new role on July 1, 2023. Concurrently, she is serving a second five-year term as dean of the School of Medicine. Previously Klotman served as chair of the Department of Medicine in the Duke University School of Medicine for seven years.

Dear Colleagues, 
We continue to accept poster submissions for DISS 2024 for the regular poster presentation session. (Submission for the poster lightning talk session and the poster award competition has ended.) 

This is a great opportunity for graduate students or junior researchers to share their research work. The poster can be on any topic that involves the use of quantitative methods and their applications in pharmaceutical development, clinical research, and biomedical studies. The deadline for the regular poster session is March 15. We look forward to seeing your poster submission soon!

The symposium registration fee will be waived for all poster session participants. For more details visit the poster sessions webpage and contact Dr. Hwanhee Hong at Hwanhee.Hong@duke.edu if you have any questions.

We are pleased to announce a special issue will be published by the Journal of Biopharmaceutical Statistics based on the invited talks and submitted posters to this symposium. The special issue will be co-edited by Dr. Shibing Deng (Pfizer) and Dr. Zhaoyang Teng (Servier). If you have an interest in having your manuscripts derived from your talks and posters considered by the special issue, please feel free to reach out to them at Shibing Deng and Zhaoyang Teng

Dear Colleagues,

Duke-Industry Statistics Symposium (DISS2024) will be held April 3 – 5, 2024 at the Hilton Durham near Duke Campus.

  • Registration for the symposium and its short courses is planned for December, 2023. For questions regarding registration prior to that, please contact Judy Adkins.
  • Submissions for the poster presentations and the early career poster award competition is expected to also open in December, 2023. More information can be found on our Poster Session page.
  • We encourage all graduate students or postdoctoral scholars who are currently affiliated with a university and major in statistics, biostatistics, or bioinformatics to attend the symposium.  A highly discounted rate will be offered to students. Those interested should contact Claire Zhang to provide proof of identity and receive a promo code for registration.
