What has your involvement with DEID looked like?
I was the co-design manager for the Engineers in Action project in Bolivia (2021-22) and traveled on the construction team over the summer. I was the co-project manager for the first year of the Uganda project for Bringing Hope to the Family (2022-23), and traveled on a site assessment trip for the Kenya project with Restoring Hopes. I am currently the fundraising chair for DEID and really excited to raise funds for our projects!

Why are you a part of DEID?
I think DEID’s mission to collaborate with communities to support increased standard of living through critical infrastructure is super important to breaking cycles of poverty. I enjoy being able to directly impact people through engineering, and DEID has given me the opportunity to learn to do so in an intentional and hands-on way!

What you are most excited for about your project or DEID?
I am currently very excited for the hydrology portion of the Kenya project! Since we are working on laying out a clinic for an area that receives high flood levels, learning about the current stormwater infrastructure and flood mitigation in Kisumu has been really interesting.

Fun Fact
I tried llama and beef heart while in Bolivia and loved it!
