Claude Cowork Work

By: Stephen Toback

Following up to my previous post, I loaded Claude Cowork in my other computer (after my other computer crashed) and gave it the same prompt. It generated a HTML project that I could put on my own web server. I thought that was strange because based on my other conversation with Claude, they were saying it was better to run the workflow in Cowork. I asked that and it agreed to do run it themselves. I created a folder on my desktop from Claude, and it stuck a JSON file in that folder. That held the instructions and my default settings. I almost always use “Software Personal” so I’d like it to default to that and then I can just make the changes.

I’ve attached a video of the test. It is interactive and works super well.

Here is the prompt:

Help me write a process where I can upload a PDF for a credit card receipt and generate a cover page that will be inserted as the first page. The information on the cover page is show on the attached sheet. The naming convention for the resulting file is important too: Vendor – Amount (using a dash rather than a decimal) – Date YYYY-MM-DD – and receipt or invoice number.

I’d like the workflow to remember the last. values but allow them to be edited. This is a list of fund codes that will need to be selected:

I asked again if I could share this workflow with other Claude Cowork users. It immediately suggested rendering out that HTML file so I can share it that way. I pushed and asked if someone else can share the workflow in Claude Cowork. It told me that I could put it on a shared drive and then other people could use it too but it would default to my name, etc. I then asked if I could just share the JSON file to other people who can then change their own defaults. They said yes, absolutely. ?? For a product that is pushing you to use their product to run your workflow, it sure seems like they don’t want you to use it.

Bottom line this is a big time saver for me and is something that shows the true promise of AI.
