I spent some time with the new AI feature in Vyond Animation. We’ve been using Vyond for several years now as our primary animation tool for course development. It’s very similar to Pow Toons and other online software tools.
I wrote a script off the top of my head describing string theory.* I could have just asked Vyond to create the script based on a topic, but I wanted to see if it would actually attempt to do an animation of any of the concepts the script was describing. It didn’t. Well, they never said it would.
It did a good job of creating a talking head animation with good lip sync that could be easily edited. It also used an AI generated voice and stock music from their library. You can edit the script in the interface to update it (similar to tools like Descript)
or bring the animation into Vyond’s editor to change characters, settings, etc.
I’ve reached out to them to see if “animating concepts” is something that is on their roadmap. Animating characters is fairly straight forward and there are tons of tools for content generation so I’m not sure of the value add yet. RIght now, we get 5 AI generations per day and there are options to purchase a higher level of licensing. Here is the final video:
*Steve is lying, he used ChatGPT to create the script.
