Video Working Group: Video Trends

By: Devon Henry

In this meeting, we spoke about how much video technology has changed in the past decade. We discussed the changes in live streaming, the expansion of 360 video, use of drone footage, and more. We also talked about how resources at Duke have grown, mentioning Webdam’s growing library in particular.

There was also some show and tell. The favorite product of the day was probably the DGI Osmo Pocket.

It’s essentially a super small gimbal with impressive stability. It’s capable of 4k output and hyperlapses, and it’s adaptable to GoPro. You can attach it to your phone for a larger monitor, but it also has a teeny one on the back, too.

It was a very neat session where we also looked at what other universities are producing, giving us some fun ideas for what we could do in the future.
