By: Richard Mitchell

So, you’ve been tasked with bringing a small conference room into the 21st century. The client would like a room scheduling interface, wired (HDMI) and wireless content sharing, a traditional VoIP telephone, built in mics, speakers, and a video camera. Oh, and they need it completed for under $3,500… and installed in two weeks. Crestron may have a new device for you.

Crestron has announced the Mercury tabletop conference system. Said to “transforms your meeting rooms into highly effective collaboration spaces,” the device is well equipped to do just that. Out of the box, by connecting the HDMI to your laptop, you get screen sharing capabilities with a local monitor. If you connect the USB cable, it provides access to a built in speaker, microphones, and webcam… a first in this price range. The unit’s touch screen can also access room scheduling services. finally, if you don’t like those pesky cables, the device also has a wireless Air Media option.

The Crestron Mercury ship April 1 and we hope to have a test unit over the summer.
