Screen Shot 2016-05-17 at 4.26.28 PMThis week Panasonic stopped by with their newish 4K PTZ camera, the AW-UE70. Duke OIT is interested in installing a couple of these in an upcoming AV installation and we wanted to see it in action.

We’ve been using Panasonic’s AW-HE60H in Duke’s MPS Studio for the last few years, which we have been very happy with, but we really would like something that is capable of outputting 4K*.  The camera can output via HDMI, SDI, IP streaming, USB (no special drivers required), and it supports recording to an internal microSD card.  They also included an analog audio in port that can embed audio with the video outputs (including USB). The camera can be controlled using an IR remote, web interface, and a camera controller (RS-422 and IP).

Overall, we were really impressed with the AW-UE70. Panasonic did a excellent job with the design.  This camera offers a lot of functionality, especially if you want 4K support and with USB support (w/audio).  Around campus, it would work great in conference rooms, video recording studios, and classrooms.

Below are some specs on the AW-UE70 camera.

– 20x optical zoom
– 4K (UHD: 3840 x 2160) resolution images at 29.97p/25p via HDMI
– 4K IP streaming and 4K in-camera recording
– 3G-SDI, HDMI, USB or IP outputs
– Analog audio input
– microSD recording
– Supports POE+

* 4K 3840 × 2160 30p support is only available on HDMI and IP streaming. All other outputs only support up to 1920×1080 60p.
