Class Requirements
- Attendance
Please plan to attend each course meeting, please arrive on time, and with the assigned material completed. Everyone is allowed one personal day off per semester – you can use this when you see fit, and you need not email me with an explanation. Additional unexcused absences will impact your grade.
- Blog Participation
For this class, you are required to post one blog entry per week. Your blog entry should be no longer than 300 words, and discuss both the film and the reading for the next class. Blog entries are due by 8:00AM before each class. Feel free to use your blog entry to raise points or questions that you would like to be discussed in the following class, but make sure that your entry reflects your understanding of concepts and ideas discussed in previous classes.
- Take-Home Midterm Examination
On February 12, you will receive by email a list of 5 questions for you to answer in 300 words or less per question. Your take-home examination is due by midnight of Wednesday, February 13, and should be emailed to dainotto@duke.edu by the deadline and no later than that.
- In Class Presentation
The last five classes of this semester will be devoted to students’ presentations. The class will be divided into groups of five, and each group will present on either a movie or a theme that we have covered in class. Further instructions will be discussed beforehand.
