Congratulations to Patricia, who has won a prestigious 2017 National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship. The NDSEG Fellowship is sponsored and funded by the Department of Defense (DoD). NDSEG selections are made by the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), the Office of Naval Research (ONR), and the Army Research Office (ARO). The American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) administers the NDSEG Fellowship. Way to go, Patricia!
Cameron, Meredith, and former Duke undergrad Jeong Hoon Ko have published the details of an outreach demonstration developed by the lab and employed in many outreach events over the years. Check out the details in J. Chem. Ed.
Congrats to Junpeng & Tatiana, whose paper “Mechanical Gating of a Mechanochemical Reaction Cascade” has been published in Nature Communications. The paper describes how fused mechanophores can be structured in order to actuate mechanochemical reactions in sequence, and, as a bonus, includes new quantitative insights into certain retrocycloaddition reactions.
Junpeng & Tatiana’s recent paper is the subject of a JACS Spotlight. Congratulations to them both on the well deserved recognition!
