John Deng, Crumbliss Fellow!

Great news for John Deng, who has been selected as the 2017 Alvin L. Crumbliss Summer Research Fellow, which is awarded annually to “one meritorious summer research fellow” in chemistry. This fellowship was established in 2011 by the Dean of Academic Affairs Lee D. Baker “in honor of Professor Crumbliss’s leadership as Dean of Trinity College of Arts and Sciences and recognizes his commitment to undergraduate research.”  Only one Duke undergraduate is so recognized each year, and John was chosen on the basis of all of the progress he made over the summer, and on the high level of engagement and sophistication with which he approached his research, oral presentations, and final poster.  Way to go, John!

Farewell to Tao

We are sad to see Dr. Tao Xing leave, but excited for him to return home to friends, family, job, and beloved hot pots!  Thanks for a great year spent visiting and collaborating with the group, Tao!

Yangju Gets Fellowship

A hearty “way to go” to Yangju, who has been selected to receive a Burroughs Wellcome Graduate Fellowship that will fund him in the third year of his Ph.D. work.  Great news and well deserved!

Prelims Passed!

Congratulations to Yangju and Yudi, who have both successfully passed their prelim exams!  Way to go!  Next up — defending independent research proposals in the fall of year 4!

Patricia Wins Fellowship!

Congratulations to Patricia, who has won a prestigious 2017 National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship. The American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) administers the NDSEG Fellowship. Way to go, Patricia!
