BYOPaper SIGCSE TS or TOCE + Qualitative Methods
SIGCSE TS stands for The Special Interest Group Computer Science Education Technical Symposium (SIGCSE TS). It is the flagship conference for SIGCSE. TOCE stands for Transactions on Computing Education. It is a journal from ACM. Choose a paper from either venue that used qualitative methods but otherwise can be aligned with your interests. To find papers, go to the ACM Digital library’s SIGCSE search engine or TOCE search engine. Alternatively, you can use dblp or Google Scholar and include the necessary keywords, just be careful that it is actually a paper from that venue. The overall goal of BYOPaper is for you to look for related work for your research question and to share what you find with the class in case it would benefit them as well. Note a paper should be more than 2 pages long. If it’s less than this, it is likely a poster’s extended abstract.
Add a link to your BYOPaper wiki entry to this day’s class page.
For details on the deliverables, wiki page, and grading see the ICER BYOPaper page. The one difference is that the path “paper/sigcsets” or “paper/toce” based on which venue the paper is from.
