The Center for French and Francophone Studies

This collection of her short stories was published last spring with a press specializing in contemporary French and American fiction.

Agnès Desarthe dedicated it to 2 Duke colleagues who introduced her as yet un-published work to students working in the French Short Fiction seminar.

The genre of the short story that is a deeply practiced and beloved one in English-language fiction, gains a playful French twist here with stories that combine the tart, unblinking character of Flannery O’Connor’s prose  with the knowing whimsy – even fantastical character of Isaac Bashevis Singer.  The result : a thoroughly  Franco-American collection.

Work is underway on the English version of Kempinski.
