Morgantina: volunteer application for coming summer

Looking for an excavation in summer 2015? Alex Walthall is looking for volunteers, June 8-July 3.

The American Excavations at Morgantina: Contrada Agnese Project (AEM: CAP) is a multi-year excavation and research project sponsored by Princeton University. The project investigates urban occupation at Hellenistic and Roman Morgantina with a particular focus on identifying points of continuity and transformation in the city’s social and economic fabric during the irst two centuries of Roman rule in Sicily.

We are currently looking for student volunteers to work with our team during the 2015 season (8 June – 3 July 2015). Volunteers will have opportunities to participate in all aspects of archaeological ieldwork and will gain irst-hand experience in the excavation, documentation, and analysis of archaeological materials. Volunteers will also have many opportunities to develop additional skills by collaborating with CAP staff responsible for geospatial analysis, architectural survey, object conservation, environmental analysis, and database management.

Applications from undergraduate and graduate students are now being accepted. The deadline for applications is 5 JANUARY 2015.
