Ana Coronell, CASE i3 Fellow, Fuqua MBA 2016Ana Coronell

Ana Coronell was an associate as a first-year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University in 2014/2015. Prior to Fuqua, she worked as a financial analyst for the P&G Latin America headquarter located in Panama. During her time at P&G she served as internal controls, industry financial and purchases finance analyst. Also, she was a key liaison between P&G and United Way Panama in projects the P&G Mentorship Program in which she coordinated and organized the mentorship partner with at risk youth. Besides being involve in Case i3, she is an actively involved in the Tech club. Ana graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2010 with a B.B.A. in Finance and a B.A. in Economics.

Adelina DassoAdelina Dasso, CASE i3 Fellow, Fuqua MBA 2016

As a first-year MBA student at The Fuqua School of Business, Adelina concentrated in Social Entrepreneurship and Management. She has six years of experience in the Asset Management industry as a Research Analyst and the last four years as the Equity Portfolio Manager of a Peruvian Pension Fund of $12blln. Adelina has been highly involved in the education sector as a teaching assistant, a part time professor, a member of a group of graduate students who mentor and finance low income Peruvian youth seeking for college education, and as head of Prima AFP Case Competition for Peruvian college students. At Fuqua, in addition to serving as a CASE i3 associate, Adelina is working in a mentored study at the charter school KIPP ENC., is part of Street Light Schools FCCP project, and is leading the education panel in the SBSI conference. Adelina graduated with a B.S. in Economics and Finance from Universidad de Piura, Lima-Peru. She is also a CFA charterholder.

Bandar El-EitaBandar El-Eita, CASE i3 Fellow and Co-Chair, Fuqua MBA 2016

Originally from Damascus Syria, but born and raised in Washington DC, Bandar has worked to build business development strategies for companies ranging from social entrepreneurship startups to large multinationals. As a first year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, Bandar concentrated in strategy and social entrepreneurship. His 7 years of experience has focused on helping business scale and accelerate sustainable growth, especially in the technology sector. Before Fuqua, Bandar was working with GovDelivery Inc, opening a DC office for their federal practice and successfully growing revenue by over 40% each year. Bandar is a proud Alumni of Emory University in Atlanta GA, with a degree in political science in 2006.

 

Bahari HarrisBahari Harris, CASE i3 Fellow and Co-Chair, Fuqua MBA/ Sanford MPP 2016

Bahari is pursuing a dual Master of Public Policy degree at the Sanford School of Public Policy  as well as an MBA at Fuqua. As a first-year MBA student, Bahari, was concentrating in Strategy, Social Entrepreneurship, and International Development. Bahari is actively involved in the Duke community as a Keller Scholar, a Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship (CASE) Scholar, and a graduate assistant for the Sanford Board Leadership initiative. Within Fuqua, he was also involved in Net Impact and served on the Conference Cabinet for the Black & Latino MBA Organization. Most recently, Bahari worked as a consultant with the Aajeevika Bureau, a non-governmental organization based in Udaipur, India. Prior to Fuqua, served as the director of Urban Hope, a community and economic development focused non-profit organization he founded in 2004 that serves urban youth living in inner-city Durham, NC. Bahari graduated summa-cum-laude with a B.S. in Business Management and a B.A. in Spanish from Virginia Tech.

Patrick HeinemannPatrick Heinemann, CASE i3 Fellow, Fuqua MBA 2016

In his first-year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, Patrick was  actively involved in the Fuqua community as a CASE i3 Associate, Special Events at the Latin American Student Association and served on the Private Equity Club cabinet. Prior to business school, Patrick worked as an Associate at mid-size Private Equity firm in Mexico, where he helped manage 5 of the portfolio companies focused in the manufacturing and technology industries. Patrick graduated from the Universidad Iberoamerican in Mexico City in 2009 with a BS in Industrial Engineering. Patrick speaks fluently Spanish, English and German.

I had the good luck of being born in North Carolina. Born in New Bern, I grew up in Winston-Salem. Between high school and college, I took two gap years and volunteered with City Year in Boston, where I taught environmental science, and managed our relationships with corporate donors. As an undergraduate I studied economics at UNC (Go Tar Heels!). Since then, I have worked for the chancellor at UNC, helped run a campaign for US House of Representatives, and spent three years working as a consultant to nonprofits in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Mike IdaMike Ide, CASE i3 Fellow, Fuqua MBA 2016

Mike is a second-year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business actively involved in the Fuqua community as a CASE i3 Fellow and is in charge of Venture Capital Programming for the Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital Club. Additionally, he is VP of Finance at Durham-based startup SoloPro focused on leading their Series A capital raise. Prior to Fuqua, Mike worked in corporate finance at Bank of America in Charlotte, NC where he lived with his wife. This past summer he worked as an investment banking associate with BlackArch Partners and has accepted a full time position after graduation. Mike graduated with a degree in Finance from the University of Florida.

Ishita ShahIshita Shah, CASE i3 Fellow, Fuqua MBA 2016

Ishita is currently pursuing an MBA at Duke’s Fuqua School of Business (Class of 2016). She spent her summer with Education Pioneers in New Orleans, LA as an education consultant for both an education incubator and a charter school. At Fuqua, she is actively involved in the Coach K. Center for Leadership and Ethics (COLE) Fellowship. As part of her social impact experience, she consulted an education startup in South Africa through the Fuqua Client Consulting Practicum, sat as a non-voting board member of the South Durham Farmers Market, and a marketing Cabinet Member of the Net Impact Club. Prior to Fuqua, she worked at Bloomberg LP in New York City as a Business Intelligence Analyst.

As a first-year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business, Becca worked on the White House National Advisory Board tracking project. Becca most recently worked for Pacific Community Ventures in San Francisco where she provided impact evaluation services to prominent investors. Before that, she worked as a researcher at an economic consulting firm in Washington, DC. Outside of being a CASE i3 Associate, Becca is also involved with the Net Impact Club and is on the cabinet for the Wine Club. She also is a Director for the Alumni Mentoring program at Fuqua. Becca graduated with a B.S. in Economics from the University of Oregon and is originally from Palo Alto, California.

Adelaide is currently pursuing her MBA degree at Fuqua School of Business. Prior to Fuqua, Adelaide worked in San Francisco at Change.org as a client manager, advising organizations and socially-driven companies on digital campaign strategy. Adelaide has worked in the social enterprise and nonprofit sectors in SF, DC, and East Africa since graduating from the University of Virginia. At Fuqua, Adelaide is serving on the AWIB and Net Impact cabinets. Outside of school, she loves to run and explore new places.

BessaoudDerrick Bessaoud, CASE i3 Associate

Derrick is currently pursuing an MBA at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, with a concentration in Finance (Investment). At Fuqua, Derrick serves as the Private Wealth Management Coordinator within the Finance Club and as a Non-voting board member for Kidznotes as part of Fuqua On Board. Additionally, Derrick is involved in the Net Impact Club and the MBA Games. Before coming to Fuqua, Derrick spent six years with PwC, first within their Assurance line of service and later within their Management Consulting practice. Derrick graduated with a B.B.A. and M.S. in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst.

BormannMatt Bormann, CASE i3 Associate

Matt is currently pursuing his MBA at the Fuqua School of Business, with concentrations in Financial Analysis and Entrepreneurship & Innovation.  Prior to Fuqua, Mattt spent fives year in Houston, Texas at WWT International Inc., an energy services company specializing in unique solutions for drilling, completion, and intervention work within the oil, gas, and geothermal spaces. He most recently served as the company’s Latin American Regional Manager heading up the company’s various South American entities. At Fuqua, Matt sits on the Private Equity Club Cabinet along with serving as a CASEi3 Associate.  He is also actively involved within the Energy Club. Matt will be interning this summer within the investment banking division at Barclays Capital in the company’s natural resources group.  Matt graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Industrial Distribution from the Dwight Look College of Engineering.

BreadyColin Bready, CASE i3 Associate

Colin is a second year dual Master of Public Policy and MBA candidate at Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy and Fuqua School of Business. At Duke, Colin is focusing on finance and international development. Last summer Colin interned at USAID in Washington D.C. exploring mobilizing private capital for development. Prior to studying at Duke, Colin worked for Cru, a global faith-based non-profit for eight years, which included a variety of field-based, support, and leadership roles in the US, Egypt, and China. Colin has his BBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin and is originally from McAllen, TX. Colin’s true love in life is his family: his wife Tara, and three young children, whom he adores.

BrownSeth Brown, CASE i3 Associate

Seth Brown is a second year dual Masters of Public Policy and Masters of Business Administration (MPP/MBA) candidate. Born in Atlanta, Seth grew up in South Florida and graduated from Duke University’s Pratt School of Engineering in 2009 with a degree in Biomedical Engineering. After graduation, Seth was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army and served as a platoon leader in Fort Carson, CO. During that time, he deployed to Afghanistan, serving as a convoy commander in the Southern and Western regions. Upon returning to Colorado, he was selected to be the Aide-De-Camp to the Deputy Commanding General-Maneuver of the 4th Infantry Division gaining valuable experience in foreign policy and military strategy. Seth was promoted to Captain and spent his last year in the Army working at the John F. Kennedy Special Operations Center and School in Fort Bragg, NC where he graduated from the Army Special Operations Career Course. After leaving the Army, Seth purchased a 1986 VW Vanagon and spent 4 months traveling the nation, focusing on national parks, music venues, breweries, and baseball. Seth’s policy interests include U.S. foreign policy, economic policy, and environmental policy. Between his first and second years, Seth interned at the Department of State’s Economic Bureau.

ChangXenia Chang, CASE i3 Associate

Xenia is now an second year MBA candidate at Fuqua. Originally from Taipei, Taiwan, she worked in corporate banking as a financial analyst and a social purpose start-up which is focusing on innovative education method before Fuqua. Her aspiration is to leverage the finance knowledge on ending global poverty. Xenia spent her summer at Kiva.org as an portfolio analysis intern in the EMEA region team. She is excited to establish the foundation of a Fuqua Student Run Impact Investing Fund which could benefit the society and cultivate more future leaders in the impact investing space.

DayLauren Day, CASE i3 Associate

Lauren is pursuing her MBA at the Fuqua School of Business with concentrations in Finance and Strategy. Prior to Fuqua, Lauren worked in international development for over five years designing and managing capacity building programs across public and private sectors, including entrepreneurs. Lauren has expertise in program management, operations, database management, and corporate strategy within small, rapidly growing organizations. While at Fuqua, Lauren is supporting diverse consulting projects including business plan development with a Zambian social entrepreneur and strategic planning for her family’s restaurant business. Lauren is a cabinet member of Net Impact Fundraising and FuquaVision clubs, and enjoys cooking, photography, exploring new places, and DIY projects.

DedekindZen Dedekind, CASE i3 Associate

Zen is currently pursuing his MBA degree at the Fuqua School of Business. Prior to Fuqua, Zen worked in Johannesburg at Edge Growth as an Investment Associate Intern, conducting due diligence on potential social venture capital transactions. Since graduating from the University of Pretoria and qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, Zen has worked in the financial services industry in South Africa and the United Kingdom. At Fuqua, Zen serves on the Net Impact and Business in Africa cabinets, and is a non-voting board member of the Durham Center for Senior Life as part of Fuqua on Board. Outside of school, he loves to hike and travel, having visited 35 countries and hoping to visit many more.

FuJulio Fu, CASE i3 Associate

Julio is currently pursuing his MBA degree at Fuqua School of Business, concentrating in Energy and Decision Sciences. At Fuqua, in addition to his involement with CASE i3, Julio serves on the Latin American Student Association and Energy Club. Prior to Fuqua, he worked at McKinsey & Company as a Business Analyst in ten different projects across different functions and industries. He also worked in Private Equity as a Real Estate Analyst. Julio is originally from Mexico City, Mexico, and owns a B.E. in industrial engineering from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM).

FujimoriJun Fujimori, CASE i3 Associate

Jun is a First Year student in the Duke Daytime MBA program at The Fuqua School of Business. He is interested in impact investments, global health, and agriculture. Currently, Jun is joining a project of CASE i3 (The Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship Initiative on Impact Investing). In addition, he is working for a healthcare organization in Uganda via a project of FCCP (Fuqua Client Consulting Practicum).Prior to Fuqua, Jun worked for Norinchukin Bank, the central bank of Japanese agricultural cooperatives which is one of the largest institutional investors. He served as a Fund Manager for 7 years. Jun enjoys playing tennis, appreciating a picture and spending time with his family.

GarridoEnael Garrido, CASE i3 Associate

Enael is a currently pursuing his MBA at Duke University, The Fuqua School of Business, with concentrations in Social Entrepreneurship. At Fuqua, he serves as a cabinet member of the Design and Innovation club, CASE i3, and the Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital club. Prior to Fuqua, he worked at Tecnologico de Monterrey, the largest private nonprofit University in Latin America serving over 150,000 students, as a Business Analyst. During his time at Tec de Monterrey, he drove transformational projects in the budgeting space from ideation to implementation. He holds a BSc. in Chemical Engineering and a Master’s in Finance from Tecnologico de Monterrey.

GuszNikki Gusz, CASE i3 Associate

Nikki is in her first year of pursing an MBA at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. Her involvement includes serving as a Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship (CASE) Scholar, on the Advisory Committee on Investment Responsibility for the university’s President and as a Franklin Project Ambassador with the Aspen Institute, evolving national service to be a cultural expectation, common opportunity and civic rite of passage for every young American. Previously, she worked at Arizona State University, advancing partnerships, strategic initiatives and investments for the President’s Office and Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College. Nikki began her career as a secondary social studies teacher in the Mesa Public Schools through Teach For America. She has a B.A. from Cornell University and a M.Ed. from Arizona State University.

KomadaEmmy Komada, CASE i3 Associate

Emmy is a second year MBA at Fuqua, where she joined the class of 2016 after seven years in the nonprofit sector. As an institutional development specialist in Beijing and San Francisco, Emmy focused on fundraising and strategic partnerships with organizations engaged in education and literary and visual arts. At Duke, Emmy is a Net Impact cabinet member, an advisor with the Duke Interdisciplinary Student Innovators, a career and admissions fellow, and serves as the Fuqua Class of 2016 Curriculum Committee Representative. In her free time, enjoys biking, bikram, reading, and vegetarian cuisine. Emmy spent her internship summer with Bank of America in New York, and after school will head to Chicago to join Deloitte as a senior consultant.

KornJulia Korn, CASE i3 Associate

Julia is currently in her first year at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, pursuing a concentration in Social Entrepreneurship. At Fuqua, she is involved with LEADS, Association of Women in Business, Net Impact Club and CASEi3. Prior to Fuqua, Julia worked for the largest nonprofit healthcare system in New York, holding roles as a Financial Analyst and then Special Assistant to the COO. Julia graduated Magna Cum Laude from Brandeis University with High Honors in Economics and a minor in Women’s and Gender Studies.

KozuchowiczRicardo Kozuchowicz, CASE i3 Associate

Ricardo is a second year Fuqua MBA. While in business school, Ricardo concentrated in Finance, Impact Investing and Entrepreneurship. He interned at Macquarie Capital in New York for the summer, working in the investment banking division in the Technology group. Prior to business school Ricardo worked for over 4 years in the private equity/venture capital industry mostly covering the technology and consumer goods space in Brazil. Ricardo has also worked as business developer and project manager at a Fast Food startup. Latsly, Ricardo has volunteered as fundraising manager for Keren Hayesod in Brazil, where he worked with other leaders in organizing events to raise resources ultimately deployed in Israel’s project to improve weak communities, education and immigration developments.

LanierBlair Lanier, CASE i3 Associate

Blair Lanier is currently pursuing a joint MBA-MPP at Duke’s Fuqua School of Business and Sanford School of Public Policy. Blair has lived in Europe and South America, taught AP Biology, and served as Executive Director of Breakthrough Cincinnati, the local site of a national collaborative working to launch students to college and young teachers to careers. Since moving to the Triangle, Blair has worked to build Durham’s social enterprise community with Bull City Forward, interned at both the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina and a precision-agriculture start up in Raleigh, and joined the board of the Helius Foundation. Blair proudly hails from Cincinnati, Ohio, attended Yale University, and lives with her fiancé on their farm in Durham county.

LimaRaquel Lima, CASE i3 Associate

Raquel is currently pursing her MBA at the Fuqua School of Business, concentrating in Finance and Social Entrepreneurship. At Fuqua, Raquel serves as a cabinet member for the Net Impact club as the Finance and IT chair for the Sustainable Business and Social Impact Conference. Prior to Fuqua, Raquel worked for Sinapis, a social enterprise focused on empowering entrepreneurs through business training and consulting services in Kenya. She has also worked for Goldman Sachs & Co., advising different business units within the firm on debt and equity investments in Commercial Real Estate transactions, and for Precision, providing data driven sales and marketing insights to multi-national clients of the firm. Raquel is originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil, and enjoys traveling and getting immersed in other cultures. On her free time, Raquel likes to practice sports, such as surfing, long-boarding, mountain biking, running, swimming, and playing soccer or volleyball.

LinoHenrique Lino, CASE i3 Associate

Henrique is currently pursuing an MBA degree at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. At Fuqua, Henrique serves at the Finance Club as the co-founder of the ‘Social Impact through Finance’ chair. Additionally, Henrique worked with a local NGO to develop its social impact metrics. Prior to Fuqua, Henrique worked as a consultant at Accenture Strategy in Brazil. Henrique graduated with a BA in Business at University of Sao Paulo – Brazil.

LiuMandy Liu, CASE i3 Associate

Mandy is a first-year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business. She is an entrepreneur who is ambitious to bridge the gap in the career education of developing countries. She therefore started a company focusing on providing career guidance and skill training to university students in June of 2015. Currently, she is leading a team of eight coming from four different countries to develop this start-up. They have successfully acquired over 100,000 users by now and launched a premium offline career boot camp in China. Before this start-up, Mandy had two years’ experiences working as a group senior operation manager in a real estate company and six years’ experiences in assurance service with Ernst & Young in China.

LoChrissy Lo, CASE i3 Associate

Chrissy is currently pursuing her MBA, with concentrations in both Finance and Strategy, at the Fuqua School of Business. At Fuqua, she serves as an Admissions Ambassador, Finance Club Cabinet Member, and Leadership Representative for her Section Cabinet. She is also actively involved with AWIB and Net Impact. Chrissy will be interning within the investment banking division at Bank of America Merrill Lynch this summer. Prior to Fuqua, Chrissy worked as an auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Seattle and BDO USA LLP in Los Angeles. Chrissy graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in Business Economics and a Minor in Accounting.

Maria PiaMaria Pia Morante, CASE i3 Associate

Maria Pia is a first year MBA candidate at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, concentrating in Finance. She has five years of experience in the Asset Management industry as a Senior Research Analyst and the last year as Head of Equity Research of a Peruvian Pension Fund of $10Bn. At Fuqua, in addition to serving as a CASE i3 associate, Maria Pia serves as a cabinet member for the Net Impact club leading the Impact Investing panel for the Sustainable Business and Social Impact Conference. Maria Pia graduated with a B.S. in Economics and Finance from Universidad de Piura, Lima-Peru.

McLaurinSidney McLaurin, CASE i3 Associate

Sidney McLaurin, Jr. is a student at Duke University concurrently pursing Master’s degrees in Business Administration (MBA) and Environmental Management (MEM). Prior to business school, he spent four years as a Product Manager (PM) at Siemens Corporation. While at Duke, Sidney gained Venture Capital (VC) expertise from internships at Kapor Capital and IDEA Fund Partners. He is the co-President of Duke Ventures, an early stage venture capital program at Duke University and co-chair of the Duke Start-Up Challenge. Post MBA, Sid intends to help build early stage technology start-ups by utilizing his PM and VC experience. He enjoys boating, and is a huge fan of both the Florida Gators and Duke Blue Devils.

NicholsHilary Nichols, CASE i3 Associate

Hilary is currently pursuing an MBA degree at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. As a CASE Scholar, she is actively involved in the social impact community and also serves on the cabinet of the Duke Wine Club. Prior to Fuqua, Hilary designed and implemented financial services for low-income people in Latin America and Africa with Women’s World Banking, a global non-profit, and Grameen Bank. Hilary has been dedicated to improving livelihoods at the base of the pyramid since graduating from The University of Vermont with a B.A. in Economics and Spanish.

OttoniKaren Ottoni, CASE i3 Associate

Karen arrived at the Fuqua School of Business after spending several years living abroad in Burundi and Ethiopia working in international development, primarily with USAID and USAID-funded projects. The experience inspired her to pursue an M.B.A. to explore disruptive innovations happening at the intersection of business and social impact. Karen was born in Brazil, but grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, and her studies led her to American University in Washington, D.C. with two experiences abroad in the Czech Republic and Costa Rica. Here at Fuqua, Karen is a second year cabinet member for the Net Impact and Design+Innovations clubs. She has led two consulting projects in India and one in Durham, all with health-related social enterprises. She enjoys helping organizations apply strategic and innovative thinking to navigate messy problems and develop solutions that lead to growth and impact. Karen speaks French, Portuguese, and Spanish.

RaineyTyler Rainey, CASE i3 Associate

Tyler is currently pursuing his MBA degree at Fuqua School of Business, concentrating in Finance and Decision Sciences. At Fuqua, in addition to his involement with CASE i3, Tyler serves on the Net Impact cabinet and is actively involved in leadership development programs such as LEADS and LCE. Prior to Fuqua, Tyler worked at a management consulting firm focusing on business led, technology enabled solutions. Past projects include revenue cycle transformation, improved supply chain operations, and enterprise level process improvements. Tyler also worked as a strategic advisor for a Zambia based microfinance organization where he developed a customized growth strategy. Tyler enjoys traveling internationally, eating new foods, hiking, and documentaries.

Christa is currently pursuing her MBA, with concentrations in both Financial Analysis and Social Entreprenuership, at the Fuqua School of Business. At Fuqua, she serves as a cabinet member of the Culinary Club, Finance Club, Net Impact Club, and is the Sustainability Representative for her Section Cabinet. She is also actively involved with Business in Africa. Christa will be interning within the investment banking division at Wells Fargo Securities this summer. Prior to Fuqua, Christa worked as a special assistant at Arabella Advisors and a small enterprise development consultant in the US Peace Corps. Christa graduated from UNC Charlotte with a B.S. in Finance.

Eduardo is currently pursuing his MBA at Duke University, The Fuqua School of Business, with concentrations in Healthcare and Strategy. At Fuqua, he serves as a cabinet member of the Latin American Business Association, CASE i3, and the Tennis club. Prior to Fuqua, he worked at GSK Consumer as the Financial Lead of 3 business units (70% of Mexico’s revenue). Before GSK Eduardo worked at J&J as part of the Financial Leadership Development Program in Mexico City, working across the 3 sectors of the company. Kim Runge is currently pursuing her Master of Business Administration at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, concentrating in Finance. At Fuqua, Kim is a cabinet member in the Asset Management Club, and is serving as a board member ex officio for a local non-profit, Farmer Foodshare. Before business school, Kim worked in Wells Fargo’s Foreign Exchange Sales & Trading group, structuring and marketing hedging solutions to corporate clients. Priot to that, she worked in the Research and Economics group, focusing on the macroeconomy. Kim attended Davidson College where she played Division I tennis and graduated with a B.A. in Economics.

WattJoe Watt, CASE i3 Associate

Joe is a first year MBA candidate at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, concentrating in finance and strategy. At Fuqua, in addition to his involvement with CASE i3, Joe is a cabinet member of the Consulting Club, an ex-officio board member with the United Way of the Greater Triangle, and MBAA Social Co-Chair. Before business school, he spent two years at Meritas International Family of Schools, focusing on strategic planning and corporate development initiatives to expand the firm’s portfolio of K-12 private schools. Prior to Meritas, Joe spent three years at HSBC in roles across banking, corporate finance, and treasury. Joe graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2010 with degrees in Finance and Accountancy.

YangSylvia Yang, CASE i3 Associate

Sylvia is a first year MBA candidate at the Fuqua School of Business, concentrating in strategy and social entrepreneurship. Before business school, she worked at Deloitte Consulting for four years, focused on developing sustainable operational strategies and identifying revenue growth opportunities through digital marketing. At Fuqua, Sylvia is an Admissions Ambassador and co-chairs Blue Devil Weekend (admitted students weekend for 450+ prospective students). She also serves as an ex-officio board member with the Durham Symphony Orchestra and is a member of the Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship Impact Investing Initiative (CASE i3). In her spare time, Sylvia enjoys traveling, baking and playing piano.

ZamorMax Zamor, CASE i3 Associate

Max is currently a first year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business. At Fuqua, Max serves as the Week on Wall Street coordinator for the private wealth management club. Max is also involved in the Net Impact club and participates in the FCCP. Prior to business school, Max was a public high school mathematics teacher in New York City for four years. He was also Vice President of the Association of Teachers of Mathematics of New York City, which is an organization which provides resources to private and public math teachers in the tri-state area. In his spare time, Max enjoys running and playing sports, spending time with family and enjoying great cuisine.

Eapen Alexander, CASE i3 Fellow, Fuqua MBA 2015

When Eapen was a second-year student at the Fuqua School of Business, he led the CASE i3 White House National Advisory Board CASE i3 Project Team and as a first year, he was an associate on the World Economic Forum CASE i3 Project team at Fuqua. Eapen holds a B.A. in Economics (Honors) from the University of Mumbai and an M.Sc. in International Political Economy from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Prior to Fuqua, he was a credit analyst at the Investment Information and Credit Rating Agency in India, and later worked as the VP of Operations at Muthoot Finance, a retail bank in India. At Fuqua, he was actively involved in the General Management Club, International Business Club and South Asian Business Club. Upon completion of his MBA, Eapen plans to return to India and work in the financial inclusion industry.

Originally from Mexico City, Mexico, Juan concentrated in Strategy and Social Entrepreneurship while at Fuqua. Most recently, he interned as a consultant with McKinsey & Company. Juan has 5 years of experience in finance and social entrepreneurship. Prior to Fuqua, he worked at Proteak, a forestry company in Latin America, where he completed an IPO and a follow-up capital increase. He also developed a new revenue stream for the company, developing and registering a carbon credit project. In 2011, he started a retail company and raised $40,000 USD. Juan graduated from Anahuac University in Mexico City with a B.E. in Engineering and Finance in 2009.

As a second-year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, Saad focused on concentrations in Strategy and Social Entrepreneurship. In addition to serving as i3 Fellow leading the team consulting to Sproxil, a health enterprise in Africa and Asia, he was actively involved in the Net Impact club and served on the Outdoors Club cabinet. He also consulted overseas for a nonprofit through Accenture Development Partnerships. Prior to joining Fuqua, he worked at Owl Creek Asset Management as a senior accountant and as an auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers. In 2012, he started an initiative called How Money Works to teach financial literacy to low-income high school students, and he is now working to launch an education venture called Future Insight. He plans to launch a pilot program for Future Insight during his second year at Fuqua. Saad graduated with full honors from the Baruch College, City University of New York in 2007 with a B.B.A. in Accounting and Finance.

Lizzie graduated from Bucknell University in 2009 where she majored in Economics and Sociology. After working in Credit Risk Management at Barclays for four years, she was eager to find a career that she was passionate about and decided to pursue an MBA at Fuqua to focus on Social Entrepreneurship. Given her background in finance, Lizzie is particularly interested in the field of impact investing. As a second year CASE i3 Fellow, she led the team consulting to Big Path Capital, an advisory firm for business owners and fund managers in the impact and sustainable sector. As a first-year CASE i3 Associate, she worked with the World Economic Forum to help develop a strategy to make impact investing an actionable priority within university endowments. Most recently, Lizzie interned at an impact investing fund that invests in small, natural resource-based businesses in economically distressed, rural areas in the Southeast U.S. Outside of school, Lizzie enjoys running, exploring new restaurants and spending time with good friends.

Kristen served as the teaching assistant for Fuqua’s Impact Investing elective in Fall 2014 in her role as CASE i3 Fellow. At Fuqua, Kristen was actively involved with the community as a Forté Fellow, Fuqua on Board Associate for the Durham Economic Resource Center, and Net Impact Cabinet member focused on Educational Development. She also serves as co-president of the Fuqua’s Leading Women group. In summer of 2014, Kristen worked at The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in Seattle as an intern in the Global Policy & Advocacy group. Prior to business school, Kristen spent six years at PricewaterhouseCoopers, most recently as a manager in the Risk Assurance group. She graduated with a B.S. in Management and Finance from Boston College.

Evelyn served as the CASE i3 Student Co-Chair in 2014-2015. Evelyn was actively involved in the Fuqua community as a Peace Corps Coverdell Fellow and Fuqua on Board Associate for the Ronald McDonald House of Durham. Within Fuqua, she was also the VP of Professional Development for the Black & Latino MBA Organization. In summer 2014, Evelyn worked for Third Plateau Social Impact Strategies, a social impact strategy consulting firm based in San Francisco. Prior to Fuqua, Evelyn served in the Philippines as a Peace Corps volunteer, teaching English at a public high school and conducting professional development training for Filipino teachers and principals. She also worked as a Program Coordinator of InnVision Shelter Network, a nonprofit that provides housing services to homeless families throughout the Bay Area. Evelyn graduated with a B.A. in Communication Studies from UCLA.

 

PabloPablo Ramos, CASE i3 Co-Chair and Fellow, Fuqua MBA 2015

Pablo served as co-chair of CASE i3, and in his second year at Fuqua, led the student team consulting to Escalera, a Mexican nonprofit working to improve education and interested in exploring social impact bonds.  As a first year CASE i3 Associate, he worked with the World Economic Forum to attract university endowments to impact investing. Pablo joined Fuqua’s Program for Entrepreneurs and worked to launch an Investors’ Club in Brazil. Prior to Fuqua, Pablo worked at an investment fund, where he analyzed public and private companies to identify investment opportunities throughout Latin America. He also co-founded a small venture capital fund that focuses on start-up companies in Mexico, and he co-founded Crecer Mexico, a nonprofit focused in providing education to low-skilled workers in Mexico to empower them in their professional careers. Pablo graduated with a B.E. in Industrial Engineering in 2008 from Universidad Panamericana.

As a CASE i3 Fellow in his second year, Jorge was part of the CASE i3 Leadership Development Project.  In his first year at Fuqua, as a CASE i3 Associate, he was part of the Impact Investor 2.0 team, and co-authored case studies in high-performing impact investment funds. Jorge was actively involved in the Fuqua community as Vice President of Student Clubs for Fuqua’s MBA Association, a Fuqua on Board Associate for the Durham YMCA, a member of the Black & Latino MBA Organization, Leadership Cohort Experience, and as a Male Ambassador for the Association of Women in Business. For his service and dedication to Fuqua, he won the class of 2015’s Distinguished Service Award. Prior to Fuqua, Jorge worked as a Financial Advisor for mass affluent and high net worth clients in Los Angeles, CA. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps for several years, including a tour in Iraq. Jorge graduated with a B.A. in Economics from the University of Southern California (USC).

As a first-year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business Eleanor was part of the CASE i3 Leadership Development Project. Serving the broader Fuqua community, Eleanor was also the First-Year Alumni Lead for the Net Impact Club and a member of the Association for Women in Business. Prior to Fuqua, Eleanor worked as an Analyst for a leading global management consulting firm providing human capital services such as Executive Search, Board Consulting, and Leadership Strategy Services to global Fortune 500 clients. Stephanie BrowhStephanie Brown, CASE i3 Associate

Originally from Canada, Stephanie Brown was a first-year MPP/MBA dual degree student at Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy and the Fuqua School of Business in 2014-2015. Prior to Fuqua, Stephanie worked on labor and immigration policy for the Canadian government. In 2012, she spent six months working alongside a women’s shea butter cooperative in rural Ghana where she updated their pricing models and marketing strategies. When she returned home, she tapped into her passion for entrepreneurship by launching an all-natural soap business, Sweet Pea Essentials. With an interest in sustainable supply chains, Stephanie most recently interned at Cotton Incorporated, where she developed a strategic plan for the U.S. cotton industry. Stephanie graduated from Wellesley College with a B.A. In International Relations and French. She enjoys travel, rollerblading, photography, and soccer.

As a first-year student at the Fuqua School of Business, Akshay was part the CASEi3 NAB tracking project team. Akshay attended the Georgia Institute of Technology where he received a degree in Industrial & Systems Engineering. After graduation, Akshay moved to Washington DC, and then to New York, to work for Accenture’s Management Consulting practice where he focused on Supply Chain Management. During his five and half year tenure at Accenture, Akshay advised clients in federal, financial services, CPG, and international development sectors. During business school, Akshay is pursuing a concentration in Finance which he aims to use in a career in Investment Banking. At Fuqua, he is actively involved in the Finance Club and the Time Capsule to Mars initiative.

Luis Chavez has 5 years of experience in management consulting, where he helped leading companies achieve profitable growth throughout Latin America and executed pro-bono projects for NGOs as well. Luis also started two online companies in the past: an online magazine and an electronics & gadgets distributor. At Fuqua in his first year he was a Cabinet member of the Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital Club and an active member of the Latin American Student Association, the Duke Tech Club and the Sports & Media Club. Ana CoronellAna Coronell, CASE i3 Associate

Ana Coronell was an associate as a first-year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University in 2014/2015. Prior to Fuqua, she worked as a financial analyst for the P&G Latin America headquarter located in Panama. During her time at P&G she served as internal controls, industry financial and purchases finance analyst. Also, she was a key liaison between P&G and United Way Panama in projects the P&G Mentorship Program in which she coordinated and organized the mentorship partner with at risk youth. Besides being involve in Case i3, she is an actively involved in the Tech club. Ana graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2010 with a B.B.A. in Finance and a B.A. in Economics.

Alex was an associate in CASE i3 as a second-year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business. He hails from Brazil where, for the previous 10 years, he worked for the Brazilian Treasury Department in a variety of roles, ranging from Human Resources manager to, more recently, financial analyst within the economic studies office. When not working or studying he loves to spend his down time reading or watching a good science fiction story or working and playing with dogs.

 

Adelina DassoAdelina Dasso, CASE i3 Associate

As a first-year MBA student at The Fuqua School of Business, Adelina concentrated in Social Entrepreneurship and Management. She has six years of experience in the Asset Management industry as a Research Analyst and the last four years as the Equity Portfolio Manager of a Peruvian Pension Fund of $12blln. Adelina has been highly involved in the education sector as a teaching assistant, a part time professor, a member of a group of graduate students who mentor and finance low income Peruvian youth seeking for college education, and as head of Prima AFP Case Competition for Peruvian college students. At Fuqua, in addition to serving as a CASE i3 associate, Adelina is working in a mentored study at the charter school KIPP ENC., is part of Street Light Schools FCCP project, and is leading the education panel in the SBSI conference. Adelina graduated with a B.S. in Economics and Finance from Universidad de Piura, Lima-Peru. She is also a CFA charterholder.

 

Amanda DohertyAmanda Doherty, CASE i3 Associate

In her first year at the Fuqua School of Business, Amanda served as a CASE i3 Associate as well as a Net Impact cabinet member focused on Educational Development. She was also selected to lead the Duke student trip to South Africa in Spring 2015. Prior to business school, Amanda worked for five years at the Bank of Montreal. Most recently with the bank, she served as an Assistant Vice President in the commercial banking division focused on financial institution clients. Amanda graduated with a B.S. in Economics from DePauw University.

 

Bandar El-EitaBandar El-Eita, CASE i3 Associate

Originally from Damascus Syria, but born and raised in Washington DC, Bandar has worked to build business development strategies for companies ranging from social entrepreneurship startups to large multinationals. As a first year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, Bandar concentrated in strategy and social entrepreneurship. His 7 years of experience has focused on helping business scale and accelerate sustainable growth, especially in the technology sector. Before Fuqua, Bandar was working with GovDelivery Inc, opening a DC office for their federal practice and successfully growing revenue by over 40% each year. Bandar is a proud Alumni of Emory University in Atlanta GA, with a degree in political science in 2006.

 

Leah FarmerLeah Farmer, CASE i3 Associate

In her first year of Duke’s Fuqua School of Business MBA program, Leah declared a concentration in social entrepreneurship. In addition serving as a CASE i3 Associate, she was a project manager with the Duke Interdisciplinary Social Innovators and on the cabinet of both the Net Impact Club and the Business in Africa club. Prior to attending Fuqua, Leah worked in international development in West Africa based out of Senegal and then Cameroon on a Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) internship before transitioning to private sector solutions to poverty at a technology social enterprise called VOTO Mobile based in Ghana. Leah completed her Bachelor of Arts majoring in African studies and her Bachelor of Education at the University of Toronto. Leah is interested in business solutions to poverty both domestically out of her home country, Canada, her second home in West Africa and the United States.

 

Bahari HarrisBahari Harris, CASE i3 Associate

Bahari is pursuing a dual Master of Public Policy degree at the Sanford School of Public Policy  as well as an MBA at Fuqua. As a first-year MBA student, Bahari, was concentrating in Strategy, Social Entrepreneurship, and International Development. Bahari is actively involved in the Duke community as a Keller Scholar, a Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship (CASE) Scholar, and a graduate assistant for the Sanford Board Leadership initiative. Within Fuqua, he was also involved in Net Impact and served on the Conference Cabinet for the Black & Latino MBA Organization. Most recently, Bahari worked as a consultant with the Aajeevika Bureau, a non-governmental organization based in Udaipur, India. Prior to Fuqua, served as the director of Urban Hope, a community and economic development focused non-profit organization he founded in 2004 that serves urban youth living in inner-city Durham, NC. Bahari graduated summa-cum-laude with a B.S. in Business Management and a B.A. in Spanish from Virginia Tech.

 

Patrick HeinemannPatrick Heinemann, CASE i3 Associate

In his first-year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, Patrick was  actively involved in the Fuqua community as a CASE i3 Associate, Special Events at the Latin American Student Association and served on the Private Equity Club cabinet. Prior to business school, Patrick worked as an Associate at mid-size Private Equity firm in Mexico, where he helped manage 5 of the portfolio companies focused in the manufacturing and technology industries. Patrick graduated from the Universidad Iberoamerican in Mexico City in 2009 with a BS in Industrial Engineering. Patrick speaks fluently Spanish, English and German.

I had the good luck of being born in North Carolina. Born in New Bern, I grew up in Winston-Salem. Between high school and college, I took two gap years and volunteered with City Year in Boston, where I taught environmental science, and managed our relationships with corporate donors. As an undergraduate I studied economics at UNC (Go Tar Heels!). Since then, I have worked for the chancellor at UNC, helped run a campaign for US House of Representatives, and spent three years working as a consultant to nonprofits in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

 

Daniel HeynenDaniel Heynen, CASE i3 Associate

As a first-year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, Daniel concentrated in Finance and Strategy. In addition to CASE i3, Daniel was engaged with the Fuqua Client Consulting Practicum and the Duke Interdisciplinary Social Innovators Program, and was a member of the Tech, Consulting, and Entrepreneurship/Venture Capital Clubs. Prior to school, Daniel worked at Cambridge Associates, where he advised the committees and staff of endowment, foundation and private clients on their investment portfolios. He also served as a board member and program director with Streetwise Partners, a nonprofit which provides mentoring and career-skills training to the the low-income community in the Washington D.C. area. Daniel graduated from Georgetown University with a degree in Political Science.

 

Mike IdaMike Ide, CASE i3 Associate

As a first-year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business.  Mike was actively involved in the Fuqua community as a cabinet member of the Finance Club and Venture Fellows Chair in the Entrepreneurial and Venture Capital Club.  Additionally, Mike was the Development Manager for the Time Capsule to Mars project, a student led venture looking to raise $25MM to send a time capsule to Mars.  Prior to Fuqua, Mike worked as a financial advisor at Merrill Lynch and a senior financial analyst in corporate finance at Bank of America in Charlotte, NC where he lived with his wife.  Mike graduated with a degree in Finance from the University of Florida.

 

Xander KentXander Kent, CASE i3 Associate

Xander graduated with a BA in Economics & Environmental Biology from the University of Colorado and in 2014-2015 was in his second year at Duke where he is pursuing his MBA from the Fuqua School of Business and his Masters of Environmental Management from the Nicholas School of the Environment. Prior to coming to Duke, Xander spent two and a half years developing business models and setting up agricultural (cashew and honey) supply chains in The Gambia, West Africa with the Peace Corps working in coordination with rural farmers, NGOs, and international commodity exporters. This past summer he interned in Belk Department Stores Sustainability Department where he helped the company by creating excel modeling tools that were used to identify millions in energy efficiency gains. Xander enjoys hiking, backpacking, and the great outdoors.

 

Bryan PolsonBryan Polson, CASE i3 Associate

Bryan is a graduate of the University of South Florida, where he double majored in Political Science and Economics.   Upon graduation, Bryan moved to Uganda where he co-founded an initiative that donated 10,000 school supplies to a rural school outside of Kampala.  Bryan is also a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, having served in Kenya.  Specifically, he led Junior Achievement Kenya’s expansion of their entrepreneurship programs to the outlying rural school districts.  After his service, Bryan’s commitment to Kenya compelled him to remain in Africa as he co-founded multiple small enterprises in consumer goods, services, and agriculture. After a successful exit, Bryan returned to the US and joined the private equity firm Comvest Partners in West Palm Beach.  At Comvest, Bryan scaled the firm’s business development platform, which then sourced over $166m of deployed capital for Comvest’s equity and debt funds.  Bryan chose to attend Fuqua because of the CASE i3 initiative as he seeks to combine his entrepreneurial and investment skill set over the next two years.

 

Benjamin RichmanBenjamin Richman, CASE i3 Associate

As a first year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, Benjamin was actively involved in the Fuqua community as a CASE i3 Associate, Director of Special Events in the Tech Club, and Director of Marketing for FuquaVision. Prior to business school, Benjamin worked as a consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton where he managed critical technology and strategy projects for a variety of federal public sector clients. His nonprofit experience includes volunteering in Santiago de Chile to provide consulting services to the NGO Voluntarios de la Esperanza, as a Deputy Project Lead with Compass, a pro bono nonprofit consulting organization in Washington DC, and with For Love of Children (FLOC) as a FLOC Champion leading new fundraising initiatives. Benjamin graduated from The George Washington University with a B.A. in International Economics.

 

Jared SchnefkeJared Schnefke, CASE i3 Associate
As a first year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, Jared concentrating in healthcare and finance. He was most recently a Strategy & Operations Consultant with Deloitte Consulting. His project experiences include multiple healthcare revenue cycle transformations, a
global inventory management program for a heavy equipment manufacturer, a global expansion assessment for a telecommunications clients’ telematics program, and a finance Center of Excellence implementation for a life sciences client. Jared graduated from Kansas State University’s College of Business Administration, with dual degrees in Finance and Accounting in 2010.

 

Ishita ShahIshita Shah, CASE i3 Associate

As a first-year MBA student at the Fuqua School of business, Ishita planned to concentrate in Strategy and Decision Sciences. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and International Business from University of Maryland, Smith School of Business. Prior to coming to Fuqua, she spent four years at Bloomberg LP in New York City, most recently as a Business Intelligence Analyst. Outside of her work hours, she taught financial literacy at urban public schools through a partnership with PENCIL. At Fuqua, Ishita serves as an FCCP consultant for a social enterprise in South Africa, is on the Net Impact Cabinet for Marketing and has pioneered an informal, social program coined Lunches of Consequence.

Becca graduated with a B.S. in Economics from the University of Oregon and is originally from Palo Alto, California.

 

Sophie SolomonSophie Solomon, CASE i3 Associate

As a first-year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business Sophie was  actively involved in the Fuqua community through cabinet positions in the Association for Women in Business Club and the Consulting Club as well as serving as a consultant for a local non-profit through the Duke Interdisciplinary Social Innovators program. In 2010, Sophie joined Teach for America and taught high school Biology and Chemistry in her hometown, Nashville, TN. Sophie then transitioned into the private sector working as a risk analyst at Asurion, a global mobile protection company. While at Asurion, Sophie continued her work in education by leading initiatives partnering Compassion Forward, the philanthropic arm of Asurion, with Teach for America. Sophie graduated with a B.S. in Biology and Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Eduardo holds a Law Degree from the Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM). After graduation, he joined Galicia Abogados, a top tier corporate law firm in Mexico City, where he participated in major infrastructure and project finance deals. Prior to Fuqua, Eduardo also worked for Katcon Global, a manufacturer of automotive components based in Monterrey, Mexico. Eduardo’s non-profit experience includes serving as President of Club Faro Monterrey and founder of Club Faro Rome. At Fuqua in his first year, he was involved in CASE i3, the General Management and Finance Clubs, and the Latin American Student Association.

Javier served as CASE i3 Associate as a second-year MBA student at Duke, and graduated in 2015. At Fuqua, Javier was involved with the community as a Co-Founder/President of Duke Ventures and Cabinet member of the Private Equity Club. This past summer Javier worked as a PE Associate in a PE Fund based in Brazil, and as a VC Associate in a VC Fund based in NY. Prior to business school, Javier worked 3 years as a Management Consultant and 1 year as an Investment Analyst. He graduated with academic honors from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile.

Maria Alejandra served as a CASE i3 Associat as a second-year student at The Fuqua School of Business. She was born in Colombia, and has lived in 4 more countries (Venezuela, United Kingdom, Spain and USA). She graduated as an Industrial Engineer from Universidad de Los Andes in Bogotá in 2008, and afterwards she worked for Nestlé in the Operational Audit team in four regions: Venezuela, Colombia-Ecuador, Caribbean and Central America Regions. There she gained experience as a team member and as a team leader in process enhancement throughout the value chain of the Company in Factories, Distribution Centers, and Regional and Head Offices. After Nestlé she got a Masters Degree in Organizational Development at ESIC Business and Marketing School in Madrid, Spain. During the summer of the MBA she worked as an internal consultant for Cencosud S.A., one of the leading retailers in South America, defining several pricing strategies and tools for their Home Improvement Division. She was widely enrolled with school activities at Fuqua as Co-President of the General Management Club (largest club at Fuqua) and as a Fellow of the Coach K Center of Leadership and Ethics leading first lead students through their journey into the first months of the MBA.

As a first year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, Nate was actively involved in the Fuqua community as a CASE i3 Associate, Capital Markets Coordinator for the Asset Management Club, and served on the Christian Business Fellows cabinet. Prior to business school, Nate worked at General Motors as a macroeconomist where he helped manage the global FX risk management process. After graduating from Kalamazoo College with a B.A. in Economics, Nate earned a M.Sc. in Agriculture, Food & Resource Economics from Michigan State University where he published a journal article on the competitive advantage of social capital for entrepreneurial ventures.

 

Paul YounesPaul Younes, CASE i3 Associate

In his first year as an MBA student at Fuqua, Paul served as a CASE  i3 Associate, as cabinet member of the Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital club and member of the Tech and Asset Management clubs. Prior to Duke, Paul worked on Wall Street for ten years with BNP Paribas and Societe Generale’s fixed income trading floors. As Director of Fixed Income Rates Sales at SG, he coordinated the efforts of a global team located in the U.S., Europe and Asia and assisted central banks and official institutions in managing their reserves. Responsible for client relationships, Paul travelled to more than 50 countries around the world. In 2002, he received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Ithaca College, where he met his wife and with whom he has two children.

Grace Webster is a second-year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, where she focuses her studies on Finance and Social Entrepreneurship. She is actively involved in the Net Impact Club, Association of Women in Business, and Asset Management Club, in addition to the Impact Investing Initiative. Prior to business school, Grace worked for the U.S. House of Representatives, the Motion Picture Association of America, and most recently as the development associate for The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy. This summer she will intern in the private banking group at Credit Suisse. Grace received an BA with honors in Public Policy Analysis from the University of North Carolina.

Tony Wang is a fourth-year JD/MBA student at Duke Law School and the Fuqua School of Business, where he serves as student co-chair for CASE i3. Before coming to Duke, he worked at the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation and Blueprint Research & Design, Inc. (since acquired by Arabella Advisors). After graduation, Tony is looking to transition into the practice of law, supporting entrepreneurs and venture capital firms – this past summer, he was a summer associate at Gunderson Dettmer’s New York office. Tony graduated from Stanford University in 2007 with a BA in Philosophy, a minor in Economics, and Honors from the Ethics in Society program, with whom he wrote his honors thesis, “Ethics and Enterprise: An Examination of Different Normative Theories of the Firm.”

Victoria Gandy 

victoria gandyVictoria Gandy is a Second Year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, with concentrations in Strategy and Social Entrepreneurship. In addition to serving as a i3 Fellow, she is actively involved in the MBAA Student Life Cabinet, the Black & Latino MBA Organization Executive Cabinet, and the Design & Innovation in Business Executive Cabinet, and serves as an Admissions Fellow as the news actor on FuquaVision’s Fuqua Action News. Prior to joining Fuqua, she worked with GlobalGiving’s corporate partners to build and execute their corporate and employee giving strategies. She also spent six months volunteering with the Lima, Peru-based nonprofit Coprodeli to develop a new agricultural micro-enterprise project in the jungle region. She graduated from the University of Virginia in 2007 with a B.A. in International Relations and Spanish.

Aaron Gress

Aaron has seven years of impact industry work, both as a microfinance private equity investor and a consultant in the U.S. and throughout the developing world. At Fuqua, Aaron serves as a Peace Corps Fellow, a CASE i3 Initiative on Impact Investing Fellow, and served as a 2012 Investors’ Circle Venture Fellow. As part of the CASE initiative he was the contributing researcher on a Rockefeller funded study of domestic impact entrepreneur needs. Prior to Fuqua, Aaron was as a sustainable agriculture volunteer in the U.S. Peace Corps in Ecuador where he worked alongside two USAID-funded projects focused on rural farmer training and business-skills development along the dairy and quinoa value-chain. Aaron also worked for $1 billion dollar impact investing firm Developing World Markets (DWM), joining as the 9th employee and was a founding team member of the firm’s private equity group. At DWM, he facilitated investments totaling $60 million across microfinance banks in 15 countries. Previously to DWM, he started his career as an investment banking analyst for KeyBanc Capital Markets (NYSE: KEY) and concentrated in economics and varsity tennis during his undergraduate degree at DePauw University.

Michelle Kirby

Michelle comes to Fuqua with six years of experience in international development, both in the US and in developing countries. Most recently, she spent the last three years working in Rwanda at the One Acre Fund, an NGO applying the microcredit model to agriculture in order to serve smallholder farmers with access to credit for fertilizer and seeds. Michelle graduated with honors from Bates College in 2005 and holds a B.A. in Francophone Cultural Studies. At Fuqua Michelle is focusing on social entrepreneurship while pursuing a concurrent certificate at the Sanford School of Public Policy in international development policy.

 

Ha Le

Ha Le is a second year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, concentrating in strategy and social entrepreneurship. She served as summer associate in 2013 to the director of CASE i3. She has extensive experience in global finance. Previously, she was co-founder, Director of Mergers & Acquisitions at Saigon Star Capital Partners and Investment Officer at Indochina Capital Advisors, both in in Hochiminh City, Vietnam. Before that, she worked in Transaction Advisory Services at Ernst and Young in Hanoi. In addition to English, she is fluent in Vietnamese, Mandarin Chinese, and Hungarian.  She graduated  from Mount Holyoke College with a BA in Mathematics and Economics, and trained as a gymnast in her teenage years.

Wen Lei Zheng

Wen Lei ZhengWen Lei Zheng is a second year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. She serves as a Fellow for the CASE i3 Program. In the summer of 2012, she will be working with Exxon Mobil in its Treasurer’s program. While pursuing her MBA, she has consulted with reSET Social Enterprise Trust regarding structuring their first locally-focused, social enterprise investment vehicle; pursued creating a SaaS healthcare solution through Duke’s Program for Entrepreneurs; and explored early stage funding as a Venture Fellow with SJF Ventures and G-51 Capital Management. Prior to Fuqua, she advised China-based, US-listed companies in public market communications at ICR and analyzed high-yield transactions in Merrill Lynch’s investment banking division. Wen Lei graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a BBA in Finance, International Business and East Asian Studies.

 

 

CASE i3 Associates:

Casey Akerblom

Casey is a first-year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business with intended concentrations in strategy and entrepreneurship. Prior to Fuqua, Casey spent over 5 years at Hall Capital Partners, an institutional investment advisory firm, as a portfolio management analyst and research analyst.  For his undergraduate studies, Casey attended the Carroll School of Management at Boston College where he was a double major in finance and management.  After business school, Casey plans to pursue a career in management consulting to help both for-profit and non-profit businesses develop innovative solutions to the various strategic and operational challenges that they face.

Eapen Alexander

Eapen is a first-year student at the Fuqua School of Business and is part of the CASE i3 World Economic Forum team at Fuqua. Eapen holds a B.A in Economics from the University of Mumbai and an M.Sc in International Political Economy from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Prior to Fuqua he was a credit analyst at the Investment Information and Credit Rating Agency in India, and later worked as Vice President at Muthoot Finance- a retail bank in India. At Fuqua he is actively invoved in the General Management Club and INDUS Club. On completion of his MBA, Eapen hope to return back to India to work in the space of Financial Inclusion in India.

Daniella Allam

Daniella is a first-year student at the Fuqua School of Business and part of CASE i3 Carolina Farm Stewardship Association project. Daniella grew up in Santa Cruz, Bolivia and studied social anthropology at Harvard. After Harvard, she worked at a small poverty reduction and health nonprofit in Mali, West Africa with a focus on microenterprise development. She then spent 3 years in Geneva, Switzerland at a think tank specialized in trade and sustainable development negotiations. At Fuqua, she is actively involved in the Net Impact Club and the Association of Women in Business. Post Fuqua, Daniella is looking to leverage her b-school skills in the food industry. Daniella is an avid traveler and hopes to one day reach her goal of visiting 100 countries and territories (she is currently at 50!).

Juan Andion

Originally from Mexico City, Mexico, Juan is an Engineer with 5 years of experience in finance and entrepreneurship. Most recently, he worked the last 3 years in Proteak (i.e. a forestry company in LatinAmerica), completing an IPO and a follow up capital increase. He also developed a new revenue stream for the company developing and registering a carbon credit project. In 2011, he started a retail company raising $40,000 usd. Juan graduated from Anahuac University in Mexico City in 2009. At Fuqua Juan is focusing in strategy and entrepreneurship, actively involved as a cabinet member of the Entrepreneurs and Venture Capital Club.

Cristina Arellano

Cristina Arellano is a First Year MBA at the Fuqua School of Business. She graduated from Emory University in 2008 with a major in International Studies and French. Because of her mother’s job, she spent most of her childhood years moving from one developing country to another. Her experiences inspired her to pursue a career in international development upon graduating college. She spent the last five years in Washington, D.C. in the nonprofit sector. She worked at International Relief and Development as a Communications and Advocacy Assistant, helping develop advocacy strategies, organize company events, and write policy briefs on topics related to HIV/AIDS, agricultural innovation in subsistence communities and post-conflict reconstruction. She then transitioned into a business development role, where she helped design emergency response and post-reconstruction programs for the U.S. government and the UN. In 2011, she began working at Women for Women International, where she managed the organizations foundation and government grant and led fundraising initiatives for the organization’s flagship program. Post-Fuqua she hopes to use her business skills to help social entrepreneurs and young nonprofits scale and sustain their impact.

Piero Arrigoni

Piero Arrigoni is a First Year MBA student at The Fuqua School of Business. In addition to serving as an associate for the i3 B Lab GIIRS Research Project, he serves as an FCCP consultant for a collaborative of charter schools in the Durham County, and a Fuqua On Board associate in a local nonprofit. Prior to Fuqua, Piero worked seven years for a steel structure manufacturing company in Chile, where he led the design, construction and initial operation of the most advanced steel structure plant in Latin America. Piero graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica in Santiago, Chile in 2006 with a Civil Industrial Engineering degree and a diploma in information technologies.

Clayton Avent

Clayton is a second-year MEM/MBA student at Duke’s Fuqua School of Business and Nicholas School of Environment, currently in his first year at Fuqua. He is studying energy, environment and finance, and spent last summer as Business Development Intern at Stem, a distributed energy storage company based in the Bay Area. Clayton is on the CASE i3 Planting Empowerment team, contributing his knowledge of solar financing to the agroforestry space. Before Duke, Clayton worked in marketing analytics for five years with Live Nation Entertainment after earning a B.A. in Economics from the University of Virginia. After graduate school, Clayton will pursue a career in clean energy finance and hopes to start his own company one day.

Peter Classi

Peter Classi is working with other CASE i3 students and the World Economic Forum to develop a strategy to incoporate Impact Investing into University Endowment Funds.  Peter is a second year Fuqua MBA student concentrating in Social Entrepreneurship and Investment Finance.  Prior to Fuqua, he worked as a Research Scientist at Eli Lilly and Company for Neuroscience Diseases and he holds a Master of Science in Health Economics and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Lehigh University.

Saad Dar

Saad Dar is a first year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, with concentrations in Strategy and Social Entrepreneurship. In addition to serving as an i3 team member, he is actively involved in the Net Impact cabinet. Prior to joining Fuqua, he worked at Owl Creek Asset Management as a senior accountant and as an auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers. In 2012, he started an initiative called How Money Works to teach financial literacy to low income high school students and he is now working to launch an education venture through the Fuqua Program for Entrepreneurs. He graduated from the Baruch College, City University of New York in 2007 with a B.B.A. in Accounting and Finance and full honors.

Lizzie Dunn

Lizzie graduated from Bucknell University in 2009 where she majored in Economics and Sociology. After working in Credit Risk Management at Barclays for four years, she was eager to find a career that she was passionate about and decided to pursue an MBA at Fuqua to focus on Social Entrepreneurship. Given her background in finance, Lizzie is particularly interested in the field of impact investing and while at Fuqua, she is developing her knowledge of the space through involvement with CASE Impact Investing Initiative. Outside of school, Lizzie enjoys running, exploring new restaurants and spending time with good friends.

Alison Flinn

Alison is a second year student at Duke’s Fuqua School of Business. Prior to attending Fuqua, Alison spent 5 years as a consultant in KPMG’s CFO Advisory practice. Alison attended the University of Texas at Austin and has a Masters in Accounting and a Bachelors of Business Administration. Post business school, Alison plans to pursue a career in the consulting sector and hopes to leverage the consulting experience into a career with a social impact focus. Alison is interested in the dynamics of developing economies and is excited to explore opportunities in social impact bonds.

Vineet Hingwe

Vineet is a first-year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business and is part of the Case i3 Speaker Series and External Engagement Team. As an active participant in the Fuqua community, Vineet is also actively engaged in the MBA Student Government and Fuqua Consulting Club. Prior to Fuqua, Vineet worked in operations for a major automotive and steel manufactuer. His passion for social entrepreneurship stems from his volunteering experience with students in Chicago Public Schools and from motivation to give back to the community. Vineet graduated with a Bachelors and Master’s Degree from the University of Michigan.

Francisco Jimenez

Francisco Jimenez is a Second Year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University where he is also qualifying for a Certificate of Academic Excellence in Finance. In addition to serving as i3 Associate, he is a Fellow for the Center of Leadership and Ethics and serves as a CASE’s FOB Board Associate in local nonprofit Latino Educational Achievement Partnership. Prior to joining Fuqua, he worked as an Associate at Asset Chile, a boutique investment bank in Chile specializing in natural resources, where he led the company’s energy practice. He spent the past summer working in Costa Rica as part of the energy team of Actis, an English Private Equity firm. Francisco graduated from Pontificia Universidad Catolica in Santiago, Chile in 2008 with a Civil Industrial Engineering degree and an IT diploma.

Jesse Johnson

Jesse Johnson is a third year MEM/MF candidate at the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University. Prior to coming to Duke, he worked on renewable energy policy for the U.S. Department of Energy in Washington, DC. He graduated from Davidson College in 2007 with a degree in English.

Janelle Kwan

Janelle is a first-year at Fuqua and is part of the CASEi3 Speaker Series and External Engagement Team. Outside of CASEi3, Janelle serves on the Net Impact Cabinet and works as an Admissions Ambassador. Prior to Fuqua, she worked as a special education teacher through Teach For America, and later, as a recruiter for Achievement First, a network of public charter schools. In her non-Fuqua life, you can find her running outside, reading or talking up a storm. Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, she holds a B.S. in Communication and Histroy from Northwestern University.

Katya Makovik

Katya is a first-year MBA student; prior to Fuqua, she worked in a large life insurance company in New York.  She also interned with Pacific Community Ventures, working on the Impact Investor project, researching and synthesizing the best practices in the impact investing field.  She is passionate about the intersection of traditional finance and social impact.  She holds a BA in Economics from McGill University in Montreal.

Laura Mixter

Laura grew up in Maryland and first moved to North Carolina in 2005 to attend Duke for college. After graduating with a degree in Public Policy and a minor in Art History, Laura returned to Maryland and worked in fundraising at The Baltimore Museum of Art. Frustrated with the financial difficulties facing the museum and all nonprofits, Laura returned to Durham to study Social Entrepreneurship and Finance at Fuqua. After business school, Laura hopes to return to the nonprofit sector, specifically in poverty alleviation at home in the US. In her free time (which was more plentiful prior to business school), Laura enjoys baking, reading and yoga.

Jacob Mullin

Jacob is a first-year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business and is part of the CASE i3 B Lab and GIIRS Research project. At Fuqua, Jacob is involved in student leadership as the Section 6 Representative and as a member of the MBA Games cabinet. Prior to Fuqua, Jacob worked as an analyst working in project management for the US Department of Education. Before that, Jacob was with Teach For America for over three years as a manager in the Washington, DC regional office and as a corps member teaching 8th grade in the San Francisco Bay Area. Jacob is currently pursuing a career in management consulting. In the long term, Jacob aspires to work in education reform, particularly teacher evaluation and professional development, at the public school district level in a consulting capacity.

Mary O’Donnell

Mary is a first-year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business and a Peace Corps Coverdell Fellow. She is actively involved with CASEi3, Association for Women in Business, Net Impact, and Consulting Club. Prior to Fuqua, she worked with several international development non-profits in a variety of capacities. Mary served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Vanuatu for two years working as a teacher trainer and with small business enterprise. She then returned to Chicago and worked as a refugee case manager. Most recently, she worked at the Rotary Foundation working in leadership training and strategic partnerships. Mary graduated with a BA in Psychology and Mathematics from Beloit College in Wisconsin.

Kristen O’Leary

Kristen is a first year student at the Fuqua School of Business and is part of the CASE i3 Safety Lab and Dalberg program.  At Fuqua, Kristen is actively involved with the Association of Women in Business, the Net Impact Club, and the Fuqua on Board program.  Prior to business school, Kristen spent six years at PricewaterhouseCoopers, most recently as a manager in their Risk Assurance group and she holds a Bachelors degree in management and finance from Boston College.  After business school, Kristen hopes to pursue a career in social impact consulting.

Monal Patel

Monal is a first year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business and is part of i3CP Carolina Farm Project. Monal is involved in Fuqua community as a career chair for the Association of Women in Business. Monal is also a selected participant for Leadership cohort experience of center of leadership and ethics. Monal was born in India and came to United States in 2004. Prior coming to Fuqua, Monal was a lead product analyst at 3M healthcare where she developed healthcare applications and services for hospitals and clinics. Monal holds a Bachelors degree from UVP College of Engineering in India.

Evelyn Powery

Evelyn is a first-year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business and is part of the CASE i3 Safety Lab and Dalberg project. Evelyn is actively involved in the Fuqua community as a Peace Corps Coverdell Fellow and Fuqua on Board Associate. She is also a member of the Black & Latino MBA Organization, the Association of Women in Business, and the Duke MBA Consulting Club. Prior to Fuqua, Evelyn served in the Philippines as a Peace Corps volunteer, teaching English at a public high school and conducting professional development training for Filipino teachers and principals. She also worked as a Program Coordinator of InnVision Shelter Network, a nonprofit that provides housing services to homeless families throughout the Bay Area. Evelyn graduated with a BA in Communication Studies from UCLA.

Pablo Ramos

Pablo is a first year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, with concentrations in finance and social entrepreneurship. As a CASE i3 fellow, he is working with the WEF to develop a strategy to gear universities’ endowments towards impact investing. Besides being an i3 fellow, Pablo joined Fuqua Program for Entrepreneurs and is working to launch a investors’ club ion Brazil. Prior to Fuqua, Pablo worked in an investment fund where he analyzed public and private companies to identify investment opportunities all throughout Latin America. At the same time he co-founded a small VC fund which focused on startup companies in Mexico. He also co-founded Crecer Mexico, a non-profit focused in providing education to people in the lowest ranks of companies to empower them in their professional careers. Pablo was born in 1985 in Mexico City and studied Industrial Engineering at Universidad Panamericana.

Andrés Saint-Jean

Andrés is a first year MBA student from Chile, where he studied a BA in Business Administration and an MSc in Economics and Public Policy. At Duke, he will pursue a concentration in Social Entrepreneurship and a certificate in International Development Policy. As a recent graduate, Andrés worked two years at a Chilean Management Consulting Firm before going into the Airline Industry, where he had an active role in the merger of the two biggest Latin American Airlines, Chile’s LAN Airlines and Brazil’s TAM Airlines. Additionally, he was an adjunct Professor of Economics at Adolfo Ibáñez University, in Santiago, Chile. Andrés is a passionate traveler and before coming to Fuqua, he had lived in Chile, France, New Zealand and Australia and visited more than 25 countries around the world

Amber Sands

Amber is a first year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business and is part of the CASE i3 Carolina Farm Stewardship Association project. At Fuqua, she is actively involved with the Association for Women in Business, the Net Impact Club, and the Consulting Club. Prior to Fuqua, Amber spent seven years at Walgreens, where she was most recently a Senior Finance Manager. She also previously worked with the JET (Japan Exchange and Teaching) Programme, teaching English in Japan, and is passionate about furthering education globally. Amber is originally from North Carolina and received a B.S. in Mathematical Business from Wake Forest University.

Sumit Sharan

Sumit is a first-year student at the Fuqua School of Business and is part of the CASE i3 Planting Empowerment team At Fuqua, Sumit is invovled with the Entrepreneurship & Venture Capital Club, Energy Club and the Design & Innovation in Business Club. Prior to Fuqua, Sumit spent 3 years at SDS Solar, a company he co-founded in 2010. Sumit is a solar power developer and currently owns and manages a 1MW Solar PV Power Plant. Additionally, he runs a website called Belly Centric that reviews restaurants back home in India. He holds a BSc. in Information Systems Management from Singapore Management University. Going forward, Sumit plans to spend some time in the startup space in the Bay area, with an interest in e-commerce, travel and F&B.

Jorge Soriano

Jorge is a first-year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business and is part of the CASE i3 Impact Investing Research Project. Jorge is actively involved in the Fuqua community as Associate Vice President of Student Clubs for Fuqua’s MBA Association, and a Fuqua on Board Associate. He is also a member of the Black & Latino MBA Organization, Fuqua Net Impact Club, and serves as a Male Ambassador for the Association of Women in Business. Prior to Fuqua, Jorge worked as a Financial Advisor for mass affluent and high net worth clients in Los Angeles, CA. Mitesh Tank

Mitesh is a first-year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business and is a part of the CASE i3 Impact Investing Research Project. Mitesh is on the cabinet of Finance, Entreprenuership and Venture Capital, Asset Management and Energy Club. Prior to Fuqua, Mitesh worked in the field of Impact Investing, microfinance in India specifically, and Prime Brokerage businesses of Lehman Brothers and Nomura. He is CFA and FRM charterholder with B.S. in Electronics Engineering from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, India

Jamie Xia

Jamie is a first-year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business and is part of the Case i3 Speaker Series and External Engagement Team. Prior to Fuqua, Jamie worked for KPMG in Hong Kong for four years in audit and corporate finance practices. Jamie was born and raised in Beijing, and she holds a B.B.A. in Global Business and Finance from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Scott Kleiman, CASE i3 Student Co-Chair (LinkedIn profile)

Scott Kleiman

Scott Kleiman is a 2013 graduate of the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, where he is concentrated in finance and social entrepreneurship. He served as student co-chair for the CASE i3 Initiative on Impact Investing and as executive officer for external relations for Fuqua’s MBA Association. At Fuqua, Scott partnered with the CEO of Investors’ Circle to develop the organization’s post-merger strategic plan. During the summer of 2012, he analyzed infrastructure investment needs for the City of Atlanta as a summer associate with Bain & Company. Prior to graduate school, Scott led strategic planning and managed the CEO’s office at Ceres, a national nonprofit organization partnering with institutional investors to advance corporate sustainability practices and integrate sustainability into the capital markets. He’s pruned vineyards and built pig-pens as a farmhand at Spannocchia, an organic farm in Italy, taught teens nutrition and cooking at the youth development organization Brainfood in Washington, DC, and is a StartingBloc Fellow. Scott graduated cum laude from Middlebury College in 2006 with a degree in Political Science.

David Nicola is a 2013 MBA graduate of The Fuqua School of Business. Prior to Fuqua, David spent seven years in the financial industry as a portfolio manager at BlueMountain Capital Management and as an investment banking analyst at Citigroup. After stepping away from wall street in 2009, David spent time traveling abroad, pursuing photography, and serving as a Fellow at the Capital Institute in Greenwich, CT. He is an avid conservationist with a Natural Resources degree from Cornell University and extensive volunteer experience with The Nature Conservancy, both as a founding member of TNC’s Young Professionals Group in NYC and as a Young Professionals Board Member from 2005-2011. Hailing from the great state of Maryland, Matt Allen spent most of his pre-business school career in Boston, MA. While in Boston, Matt worked for The Forum Corporation, a consulting firm that helps senior leaders execute innovative, people-driven solutions that accelerate business growth, corporate change and overall performance. Matt spent his summer between first and second year of business school with Deloitte Consulting, and will pursue consulting full time upon graduation. As a student at Duke, Matt was heavily involved with the Net Impact Club and very passionate about the broader field of Social Entrepreneurship. As part of the CASE i3 initiative, Matt has worked with representatives from SJFI and OH Community Partners to study the domestic, impact investing industry and impact entrepreneur sector. Utilizing grant funding from the Rockefeller Foundation, Matt and his team has scoured through proprietary survey data from over 300+ Impact Entrepreneurs to answer three critical questions: 1) How has the market of Impact Enterprises evolved? 2) What do Impact Enterprises need to succeed? 3) How can the market be segmented? When not analyzing the ever-evolving impact investing industry, Matt enjoys playing soccer with his peers and exploring the growing food scene in Durham, NC.

Lila Cruikshank is a 2013 graduate of the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, where she was a CASE i3 Fellow and President of the Duke MBA Wine Club. For her summer internship, Lila worked at The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, where she supported the Program Related Investment team to conduct due diligence on a volume guarantee, and supported strategic planning efforts for the Pneumonia and Diarrheal Disease teams. In conjunction with CASE i3 and the International Partnership for Innovative Healthcare Delivery, Lila has led projects working with the impact investing network Toniic, global health NGO Riders for Health, and health supply chain startup Sproxil. Prior to Fuqua, Lila worked for global health NGO Population Services International, including four years as a program manager in Mozambique. Lila graduated magna cum laude from Brown University in 2004 with an AB in International Relations.

Brandon Gregor graduated from Fuqua in the Class of 2013. Brandon spent his pre-MBA years as an Assistant Vice President at Credit Suisse & Deutsche Bank in New York City, focused on analysis and controls for the synthetic equities business. Brandon has been heavily involved in the Impact Investing Initiative at Fuqua by completing a mentored study with a clean tech growth equity fund, representing Fuqua in the 2012 Impact Investing Challenge, partnering to develop operational efficiencies for Investors’ Circle, and general impact investing coursework & events. After school, Brandon will be headed to the Energy & Power investment banking groups at Wells Fargo Securities in Charlotte where he will focus on generation, transmission and distribution, and other energy related businesses.

Mailande Moran is a 2013 graduate of the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. She served as a Fellow for CASE i3 and the Center on Leadership and Ethics. In the summer of 2012, she worked with Enterprise Community Loan Fund to analyze and communicate the impact of green affordable housing and transit-oriented development in Colorado. While pursuing her MBA, she consulted with the healthcare NGO Healing Fields in India, the microfinance start-up Seeds in Kenya, and the for-profit maternity hospital LifeSpring in India. Prior to Fuqua, she focused on social entrepreneurship and philanthropy in strategy roles at Echoing Green and the Shelley & Donald Rubin Foundation. Brendan Mullen is a 2013 graduate of Fuqua and is working after graduation in Johannesburg, South Africa as consultant for Bain & Company. Brendan was the 2012 Venture Fellow and MBA Associate for SJF Ventures, a growth stage private equity fund. Prior to Duke, Brendan worked in finance and campaign politics. He spent the last four years in Boston as a bond analyst at Putnam Investments. Sarah is a 2013 graduate of Fuqua where she pursued a concentration in strategy and finance. In addition to being an i3 Fellow, she was a member of the Association of Women in Business, Running and Triathlon Club, and Wine Club. She also co-chaired the Asset Management Club symposium. Prior to Fuqua, Sarah worked in development (fundraising) at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. She is a graduate of Barnard College in New York, where she majored in History and Art History. She spent the summer interning at Goldman Sachs in the Private Wealth Management Division in New York. Post-Fuqua, she hopes to combine her interest and experience in nonprofits and foundations with her business skills.

Greg is a 2013 graduate of the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University where he pursued a concentration in Social Entrepreneurship and Finance. Over the summer he was a Farber Intern at the Roberts Enterprise Development Fund (REDF) in San Francisco. At Fuqua, he was the Lead Fellow at the Center for Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship and served on the Net Impact Cabinet. Prior to business school, Greg was a Lead Associate at Booz Allen Hamilton in Washington, DC, where he worked with several federal and state government clients to address challenges related to strategy, change management, and process improvement. Greg also served as a City Year Corps Member in New York City, where he partnered with Harlem’s Children Zone to support daytime and afterschool youth development initiatives. Nicole Thompson is a 2013 Fuqua graduate and was a CASE i3 Fellow at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. In the summer of 2012, she worked with B Lab to conduct onsite reviews of their members’ social and environmental practices while researching social entrepreneurship trends in Europe. While at Fuqua, she has focused on entrepreneurial strategy and finance, consulted for a water resource management start-up in India, and begun exploring ways to combine her passions for brewing, sustainability, and agribusiness in emerging markets. Prior to beginning her MBA, she worked in strategy, pricing, and project management roles at Chemonics International. Nicole graduated from the University of California at San Diego in 2004 with a B.A. in International Studies—Cultural Anthropology.

Jacqueline Westley is a 2013 graduate at The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University where she pursued concentrations in Finance and Social Entrepreneurship. She is currently working at the Calvert Foundation. For her summer internship, Jacqueline served as a lending associate at RSF Social Finance in San Francisco where she performed due diligence, prepared credit memoranda, and negotiated deal terms for RSF’s social entrepreneur borrowers. While a CASE i3 Fellow, Jacqueline led a project with reSET Social Enterprise Trust to help raise and structure an innovative social enterprise fund and has also assisted with the Impact Investor project. Jacqueline was an Investors’ Circle MBA Fellow and has also consulted for Wizzit Microfinance Bank in South Africa, a pioneer in mobile banking. Prior to Fuqua, Jacqueline worked for the Federal Trade Commission vetting proposed M&A transactions. Jacqueline graduated from the College of William & Mary with an AB in Economics.
