As a result of informal surveys from 2012 to 2013 – 30 birds died due to collisions against windows!

Species with fatalities:

– Fox Sparrow (first record on campus)

– Downy Woodpecker

– American Goldfinch

– Brown Creeper

– Cedar Waxwing

– Common Yellowthroat

– Magnolia Warbler

– Ruby-throated Hummingbird

– Tufted Titmouse

– White-throated Sparrow

– Yellow-bellied Sapsucker

– Northern Mockingbird

– Red-eyed Vireo

– Gray Catbird

– Ruby-crowned Kinglet

– Hermit Thrush

– Swamp Sparrow

– Northern Flicker

– Northern Cardinal

– Eastern Towhee

– Yellow-rumped Warbler

Keep in mind that this does not include the carcasses that were not seen, or reported. The number is likely underestimating collisions because many of the carcasses are picked up by scavengers like raccoons and cats.
