Just yesterday, BEPSA put on a New Student Reception to welcome new lab groups to the Biomedical Engineering department at Duke. In the past year, Joel Collier and his group have moved from the University of Chicago, Xiling Shen and his students have relocated from Cornell University, and Jonathan Viventi and his lab have moved from New York University. Decadent hors d’oeuvres trays from Whole Foods and a third story view of the E-quad from the Mumma Commons provided a wonderful atmosphere for members from established Duke BME labs to mingle with the new students. If you bump into students from these new lab groups, be sure to introduce yourself and make them feel welcome!
