Welcome to the website of Samuel Bagg. I completed my Ph.D. in Political Science at Duke University in May 2017, and am currently a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Research Group on Constitutional Studies and the Department of Political Science at McGill University.

My current research centers on democratic theory, though I have wide-ranging interests in the history of political thought, political psychology, political economy, the philosophy of social science, and American pragmatism. My work has been published in a range of venues, including the European Journal of Political Theory; Political Research Quarterly; Politics, Philosophy, and Economics; and Political Studies Review. My book project (titled The Dispersion of Power: Thinking Democratically in the 21st Century) is adapted from my dissertation, which was recently awarded “Most Outstanding Dissertation” (all fields, AY 2016-2017) by Duke’s Political Science department.

For more information about my academic work, please see my research page. See also: videos of me giving lectures and talking about my work; information about my teaching; and a little about my life outside of academia.
