This is the class website for Introduction to Audio Documentary at Duke University, Fall 2022, taught by John Biewen. In the course, students study the craft, tools, and ethics of audio (podcast and radio) production, and listen to and discuss a variety of audio documentary works. Each student produces two audio documentaries.
The first is on the theme of the student’s choosing: Producer’s Choice. Final projects respond in a variety of ways to the Scene on Radio podcast series, The Repair, on the climate crisis.
