The Africa Initiative (AI) is a faculty-led initiative that brings scholars together – from across Duke University and Duke University Health System – who have a shared interest, whether through their research or programmatic activities, in the countries and cultures of the African continent. Launched in January 2012, with funding from the Office of the Provost and support from the Office of Global Strategy and Programs, the goals of the initiative are to:
- Build connections between schools, programs, institutes and departments;
- Continue to foster new collaborations across disciplines;
- Transport existing knowledge gained whether in Durham or the African continent to other Duke locations around the globe;
- Explore and pursue new funding opportunities and sponsored research
The Africa Initiative communicates through a listserv, which is the main mechanism for sharing funding opportunities, events, and news. To sign up for the listserv, please click here.
