Clinical Trials & Research Studies

We are directly involved in the latest ADHD research, and participate in clinical trials designed to better understand the disorder and test new therapies. We conduct a range of research projects, including medication and behavioral trials.

You may be eligible to participate in these studies and gain access to new therapies before they are widely available.

Clinical Trials & Research Studies for Adults
Participants must meet criteria for diagnosis of ADHD. An evaluation is provided at the screening. There is no cost to eligible participants. Compensation may be  provided.

Healthy Adult Male Volunteers: 

We are looking for male adults aged 18 to 40 years old to participate in a research study to understand how the sperm is affected by the use of marijuana before and after an 11-week period of abstinence from marijuana use. We will seek to recruit marijuana users and non-marijuana users. Marijuana users will be asked to abstain from marijuana use for 11 weeks. Are You a Smoker With ADHD?:

Triangle Smoking Studies is now offering research studies for regular cigarette smokers who have ADHD and do not want to quit smoking.

  • You may be eligible for this research study if you are:
  • A healthy adult between 18 and 40 years old
  • Available for 10 visits over 9-13 weeks and 1 follow-up
  • Willing to smoke investigational cigarettes
  • Have or believe you have ADHD

If you answered “yes” to all or some of the questions above, or if you have been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), you may be eligible to participate in a research study for adults with ADHD. Duke Medicine in Durham, NC, will conduct this study. Participants may be compensated for travel expenses for attending 5 study visits including Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) sessions.

Clinical Trials and Research Studies for Children and Adolescents

Participants must meet criteria for diagnosis of ADHD. An evaluation is provided at the screening. There is no cost to eligible participants. Compensation may be  provided.

Sleep Research Study
A new research study is recruiting teens between the ages of 11-17 who meet the following criteria:

  • Free from occult sleep disorders (i.e., sleep apnea, periodic leg movement syndrome)
  • Free from using prescribed or over-the-counter sleep aids (e.g., melatonin)
  • Free from acute chronic medical illnesses or medications that may interfere with sleep.

If your child meets these criteria, he or she may be eligible to participate. Compensation provided.

Teen Sleep Study:

We are looking for healthy teen volunteers ages 13-17 ( with or without ADHD) for a behavioral research study examining sleep and learning. Compensation is provided.
