We are directly involved in the latest ADHD research, and participate in clinical trials designed to better understand the disorder and test new therapies. We conduct a range of research projects, including medication and behavioral trials.

You may be eligible to participate in these studies and gain access to new therapies before they are widely available.

Clinical Trials & Research Studies for Adults
Participants must meet criteria for diagnosis of ADHD. An evaluation is provided at the screening. There is no cost to eligible participants. Compensation may be  provided.

CROWN Research Study

If you’re living with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), learn more about the CROWN  research study of an investigational drug for adults with ADHD.

To pre-qualify for this study, you must:
• Be 18 to 55 years of age
• Be diagnosed or have been diagnosed with ADHD

All study-related visits, tests, and study drugs will be provided at no cost. In addition, reimbursement for study-related travel may be provided.

Healthy Adult Male Volunteers: 

We are looking for male adults aged 18 to 40 years old to participate in a research study to understand how the sperm is affected by the use of marijuana before and after an 11-week period of abstinence from marijuana use. We will seek to recruit marijuana users and non-marijuana users. Marijuana users will be asked to abstain from marijuana use for 11 weeks. Current use of nicotine and nicotine products will not be allowed. Compensation for time and travel will be provided.

  • Difficulty staying focused on tasks
  • Difficulty completing work, chores or other tasks

If you answered “yes” to all or some of the questions above, or if you have been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), you may be eligible to participate in a research study for adults with ADHD. Duke Medicine in Durham, NC, will conduct this study. Participants may be compensated for travel expenses for attending 5 study visits including Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) sessions.

We are looking for adult smokers aged 18 to 55 years old to participate in a research study to test two methods of smoking cessation in smokers with or without ADHD. Participants will be asked to quit smoking for 8 weeks. Compensation will be provided.

Clinical Trials and Research Studies for Children and Adolescents

Participants must meet criteria for diagnosis of ADHD. An evaluation is provided at the screening. There is no cost to eligible participants. Compensation may be  provided.

Sleep Research Study
A new research study is recruiting teens between the ages of 11-17 who meet the following criteria:

  • Free from occult sleep disorders (i.e., sleep apnea, periodic leg movement syndrome)
  • Free from using prescribed or over-the-counter sleep aids (e.g., melatonin)
  • Free from acute chronic medical illnesses or medications that may interfere with sleep.

If your child meets these criteria, he or she may be eligible to participate. Compensation provided.

Teen Sleep Study:

We are looking for healthy teen volunteers ages 13-17 ( with or without ADHD) for a behavioral research study examining sleep and learning. Compensation is provided.

Study of Children with Autism, ADHD, and Typical Development

Do you have a child who is 7 or younger?

  • Receive diagnostic and cognitive assessments by licensed psychologists at no cost.
  • Some children in the study will receive early intervention based on the the Early Start Denver Model at no cost.
  • Compensation is provided and visits are conducted at times convenient for you.
