Dr. Adams presents at 16th World Congress of the International Cartilage Repair Society

Duke Orthopaedics was represented at the 16th World Congress of the International Cartilage Repair Society in Berlin, Germany by Drs. Amy McNulty, Richard Danilkowicz, and Samuel Adams. Dr. Adams presented his work “Midterm Prospective Evaluation of Structural Allograft Transplantation for Osteochondral Lesions of the Talar Shoulder”

Fourth-year resident, Richard Danilkowicz presented 3 podium research presentations and 3 poster presentations.
Podium presentations:

  • “Histological and Inflammatory Cytokine Analysis of Osteochondral Lesions of the Talus after Failed Microfracture,
a Comparison to Fresh Allograft Controls”
  • “Histologic Grading Correlates with Inflammatory Biomarkers in Tibialis Posterior Tendon Dysfunction”
  • “Synovial Fluid Fracture Hematoma Causes Cartilage Damage and Chondrocyte Death that is Partially Attenuated by Anti-Inflammatory Agents”

Poster presentations:

  • MicroCT Analysis of Subchondral Bone Reveals Disorganized Architecture after Cartilage Damage”
  • “3D Bioprinted GelMA-Gelatin-Hydroxyapatite Osteoblast Composite Hydrogels for Bone Tissue Engineering”
  • “3D Bioprinted GelMA-Gelatin-Hydroxyapatie-Demineralized Bone Matrix Osteoblast Composite Hydrogels for Bone Tissue Engineering”

Lindsey Johnson Awarded for Presentation

Congratulations to Adams Lab medical student Lindsey Johnson on being awarded The Journal of Orthopaedic Experience and Innovation for her presentation on “3D Bioprinted GelMA-Gelatin-Hydroxyapatite Osteoblast Laden Composite Hydrogels for Bone Tissue Engineering” at the 1st Annual Medical Student Orthopedic Symposium at George Washington University. This research was performed by the Adams Lab and was partially funded by the Piedmont Orthopedic Foundation.
