Capstone Project “Fabrication and Characterization of Gelatin and Metamucil Ultrasound Phantoms” 

  • Investigated the use of gelatin and Metamucil to create a cheap, efficient ultrasound phantom for training purposes.
  • Developed a method to test the strength and durability of samples via Rheology, TGA, and Ultrasound.
  • Incorporated tumor and vein mimics into phantom samples that imaged under ultrasound.
  • Learned basic ultrasound imaging techniques

Undergraduate Research “Fabrication of polymer tube peripheral nerve conduit device” (May – December 2017)

–           Assisted in improving on a dip drying technique for peripheral nerve conduits

–           Analyzed the porosity, thickness, and suture retention of the conduits

Undergraduate Research “Polyanhydride Nanoparticles for Drug Release” (July -August 2016)

  • Investigated the degradation of (p-carboxyphenoxy) propane-co-sebacic acid nanoparticles for controlled delivery of the aCT 1 peptide for use on glioblastomas in canines.
  • Created a CPP polymer using an experimental double emulsion process.
  • Analyzed data found from NMR and DLS about the chemical composition of polymers created in house.
  • Prepared several oral presentations and a final report

Final Paper

Mitral Valve Sewing Ring

Using 3D slicer software I was able to segment the mitral valve of the heart. Using this segment I created a personalized mitral valve sewing to aid in heart repair.

Welcome to my Portfolio! My name is Adrianna Battle and I am currently a Duke University student pursing a Masters of Science in Biomedical Engineering. I am originally from the Northern Virginia Area and completed my undergraduate education at Virginia Tech studying Materials Science Engineering. My career interests include tissue engineering, medical device development and design, and 3D printing. Over the past 5 years I have been able to gain great experience in the biotechnology field through several internship and research experiences.
