Hi! My name is Mike Niemi, and I’m apparently the laziest of all Writing the Future students. I live in the Brown dorm, and not only do I sit next to Daniel Vitek in class, but I’ve spent many of my hours at Duke within 8 feet of him (relax, he’s my roommate). I’m from Gainesville, Florida, and I’m currently pursuing an engineering degree even after getting scared out of EGR 53 in first semester.
Archive for January 20th, 2010My name is Laura, but I am known more widely on the internet as eloriane so that is how I will be blogging. I’m a sophomore, and I’m planning a Program II in film. I live in Keohane 4D. Yes, about six feet from our classroom. I am a gigantic geek, and I’ve been reading science fiction and fantasy since I was a kid; I read a lot of obscure stuff but I also consider myself well-versed in the “classics.” It’s always been a pastime, though, so I’m excited to take a more serious and in-depth look at my favourite genre. Hi, my name is Alex McIntyre. I also live in Giles and am planning to major in ECE. While I’ve read some science fiction, I’ve never seen Star Wars or Star Trek, so I’m looking forward to remedying at least part of that situation in this class. Hopefully the blog will be fun and helpful. I’m looking forward reading everyone’s posts. Hey everyone, My name is Jared Nelson. (Well, actually my first name is Davis. Apparently when I was first born I was named Jared Davis Nelson, but for whatever reason my parents decided, just hours afterward, to swap my names but still call me Jared.) I live close to Winston-Salem, and here I’m a freshman in Giles. Anything computer-related fascinates me, and accordingly I’m planning to double-major in ECE and CS; I also play in the jazz band and would like to get into robotics this semester. As far as science fiction goes, one time I started reading Dune, and even though I could not get into it at the time I would be willing to try again. |
