Worship isn’t just something you go to on Sundays; it’s a response to God’s grace to be lived out in every moment.  We meet during the week to help focus this response within the context of Christian community.

On Sunday mornings, Wesley folks usually attend different churches, with regulars often attending Asbury United Methodist Church and Duke Chapel amongst others.  Feel free to ask us about area churches and transportation!

On Sunday evenings for our weekly Wesley Worship, we gather after dinner to join in song, prayer, and holy conversation, often being led by students or guests from the Duke and Durham communities.  In the past, favorite guests have included Dr. Stanley Hauerwas, Rev. Canon Dr. Sam Wells, Rev. Dr. Willie Jennings, Dr. Maurice Wallace, Rev. Gray Southern, Mr. Miguel Rubiera, and more.  We’re never afraid to tackle big issues or hard questions, and this coming fall, we will be investigating Christian buzz-words like ‘salvation’, ‘liturgy’, ‘the Kingdom of God’, and more.   We’d love for you to join us for dinner and worship, starting at 6:00 pm in Goodson Chapel at the Divinity School.

On Wednesday evenings we meet for about 30 minutes for communion at our weekly Eucharist service.  Meeting in the Wesley office in the basement of Chapel, Eucharist provides an intimate setting, a spectacular sermon (usually from our campus minister, Rev. Dr. Jennifer Copeland) and culminates with holy communion.  Duke students often find themselves needing some peace during the middle of the week, and we find that this is a wonderful place to find the peace of Christ.  In case you missed the service, you can find Jenny’s most recent sermons here. Or if you’d like to browse we have some older sermons below.

Our worship team and music team plan and lead our regular Sunday evening worship services.  If you’re interested in helping out with planning or leading worship or music, have questions, or just want to find someone to jam with, contact Kristen Westfall at, Christine Delp at, or John Mclean at

I was wondering if your Sunday night worship was just for undergrads, or if the entirety of the Duke community.
