Regional Playing Styles

The 2018 World Cup will feature teams from all over the globe who have their own unique talents and ways of playing. However, teams coming from the same region of the world play a similar style of soccer that is noticeably different than that of other regions. For example, the Brazilians play much differently than the English and this can be attributed to the way that most teams in South America and Europe play the game. In the spirit of this course, these different styles of play are not arbitrary, but rather are deeply rooted in history, talent development and culture. We will take a deeper look at the following regions of the world and their special styles of play:

British

Italian

Latin

Northern Europe

Continental

Central America
